“I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream.”
On this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we pause to honor not only the man, but the moral courage, compassion, and vision that defined his life. Dr. King’s dream, rooted in equality, justice, and love, continues to speak to us across generations. It challenges us to look beyond ourselves and to live in ways that strengthen our communities and uplift one another.
Dr. King reminded us that progress is built through everyday choices: doing what is right, standing for fairness, and treating every person with dignity. His dream was never passive, it was, and remains, a call to action.
“The time is always right to do what is right.”
Though Dr. King’s life was tragically cut short, his dream could not be silenced.
“You can kill the dreamer, but you can’t kill the dream.”
Today, we remember. We reflect. And we recommit ourselves to the work still before us, work that honors his vision of unity, justice, and peace.
“When we allow freedom to ring… we will be able to join hands and sing: Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last.”
May we continue to let freedom ring, through our actions, our voices, and our commitment to building the beloved community Dr. King so boldly envisioned.
