Flying A Plane And Listing A Property To Sell.

By
Real Estate Agent with MOOERS REALTY ME Broker License 106759

Flying a plane and listing a property to sell.

Lots of similarities between learning to fly and success listing selling real estate.

For both you need experience before getting off the ground and returning to land safely.

Situational awareness with no distractions and all the preparation before you lift off and go up into the wild blue yonder.

Just like your flying coordinates, you need to know where your listing is situated in the current real estate market.

If your owner says "I don't have to sell but I would in a heart beat if I can get four, maybe five times it's fair market value".

There's a red flag to not ignore in real estate. Much like low fuel warning lights blinking on the dash of your Cessna 172 or flying something more exotic.

Kindly show the comparable value of a house listing like his in today's market.

And if red faced hollering happens because your numbers don't match his expectations, just be polite. Smile sincerely, thank the seller for his time. Then back away slowly to go head out the door to do something worthwhile.

Pretty important in the plane to not suddenly hear "low terrain pull up pull up pull up". No pilot wants to trigger the stall warning horn. Because the stakes are  too high just like a real estate sale when you really need to get from house A to house B.

Some people have no business flying or trying their hand at real estate listing sales.

Both need experience, patience, careful study and dedication. There is not instant success.

Real estate agents, brokers like airplane pilots navigate the process.

Someone has to be involved to guide the flight or listing sale dance steps. To line it all up for the land, the closing. Keeping in mind, not missing a trick for everything that could possible happen before it does. To keep all the layers of players in line like air traffic control racked and stacked circling on a radar screen.

Can you imagine being behind the yoke of a King air twin engine plane and losing the pilot?

Being in the middle of a real estate property sale can feel as helpless when everything goes sideways. When you find yourself suddenly all alone and lose the trained pilot that knows what he is doing from past experience.

Andrew, this is a sharp and practical comparison that resonates with anyone who has guided clients through complex transactions. Your aviation analogy clearly illustrates the importance of preparation, situational awareness, and knowing when conditions are not safe to proceed. Managing expectations with facts and calm professionalism is exactly what keeps deals from stalling or crashing. The reference to Houlton International Airport reinforces the seriousness of experience and training. Well stated and grounded in real world practice.

Thank you Gwen Fowler SC Lakes & Mountains 864-710-4518. Knowing what to do when and why. Experience from someone that's handled a few flights in any weather. Experience from someone that's listed and sold a few properties only gains value and keeps the sale alive.

Love this analogy, Andrew! Selling a home really is like flying—a little preparation and the right guide make all the difference. Great insights!

Too often it looks easy from the outside because we work behind the scenes Ellie McIntire. There is an art to it and real estate is a jealous master where you have to know what you are doing. Otherwise you are a MIA broker or agent leaving everything hanging up in the air.

Wow, flying a plane would be so cool.  I have a feeling that we might all get to fly in the near future, it might be like the Jetsons, haha.

Did you watch the lady landing the King Air who was not a pilot, got help from ATC to walk her through the steps. Pretty amazing that twin engine was landed with no issues Brian England.

Good Thursday morning, Andy. We see in the news that ICE has moved into Maine.

A new immigration enforcement operation is underway in Maine, the Department of Homeland Security announced Wednesday.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin did not say how many arrests were made during the first day of the Maine operation, dubbed “Catch of the Day.” In a statement Wednesday, she only said DHS “arrested illegal aliens convicted of aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and endangering the welfare of a child.”

On Tuesday, as residents in the cities of Portland and Lewiston noticed a heightened presence of immigration officers in their communities, they began posting videos on social media and calling a community hotline to report the sightings and some arrests.
