Journal Entry for Tuesday, 1/20/2026

The beautiful Texas Flag was taken outside of Subaru where I had my 30,000 mile service check-up. And I'm feeling good.

In case you didn't know, Texas Governor Greg Abbott is confined to a wheelchair. It doesn't stop him from getting around and working hard for the people in Texas. Despite being paralyzed from the waist down, he is supported by his family and faith. While jogging in his 20s, a tree fell on him leaving him confined to being in a wheelchair for life. He claims through that difficult time he learned an invaluable lesson: "Life is defined not by the challenges we face, but how we respond to those challenges."

Recent accomplishments by Governor Greg Abbott:

  • The largest school choice program in the nation, empowering Texas parents to decide how and where their kids are educated was passed.

  • The Governor delivered a record $50 billion in property tax relief to ease the burden on hardworking families - thank you Governor Abbott!

  • He passed laws to secure our Texas border, cracked down on illegal immigration, and defended Texas sovereignty from federal overreach.

  • Our Governor of Texas strengthened election integrity and stood firm for religious liberty and the Second Amendment.

Personal Accomplishments for January 2026:

  • I completed my yearly annual physical.
  • I completed vehicle service requirements.
  • I completed my duty for the 2025 IRS.
  • I registered for 47 classes for UNT's First Semester.
  • 14 appointments are confirmed for February.
  • I made winter brighter by buying myself flowers.

Quote for Today:

The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them ---George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950), Irish born British dramatist.

Sham Reddy CRS- To think, when I learned I was offered a position in Texas from Abbott Laboratories and moved to TX in March 1997, I didn't know anything about the state, the people, the weather know or the diverse landscaping, and just how big it is!

Well, I know a lot now and I am thankful I quit Chicago long ago. I have no regrets, especially with my Governor. I just love that quote by George Bernard Shaw too!

I hope things are going well for you in Ohio!

Roy Kelley - By nature, I am a busy bee. I don't like being without gas to get up and keep going. I will continue to live and learn to get as much fulfillment out of my life as I can.

All the best to you and Dolores.

I did not know that about Texas Governor Greg Abbott, but I have heard good things about what he does for Texas, and I am glad that you seem to be impressed with him.

Brian England - Since the day he took office, Governor Abbott has been the mascot for being the Texas Energizer! He is a true achiever doing good for the people of Texas. Nothing that I know of, ever lets him down. Plus, I have never seen him without a smile.

Nina Hollander, Broker - It's because of Governor Abbott why I chose to stay. He is a man who can think on his feet, even though he doesn't have the mobility, and he can do great things for the people of Texas.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 - I need flowers more than alcohol or candy. They nurture my soul.

Governor Abbott is the most incredible Leader I've ever known. I am very proud to be a Texan, because of his leadership and fairness to the people.

This is a thoughtful reflection that blends gratitude, discipline, and perspective.

I appreciate how you connected perseverance to daily responsibility. Progress often comes from showing up, handling what needs to be done, and recognizing small wins along the way.

Your personal accomplishments list is a good reminder that momentum is built through consistent action. Well said and encouraging.

It is good to remind ourselves what we have achieved, we often overlook those items for being everyday or normal, but having your annual physical is important. I had mine and am having some ongoing tests for some knee pain, trying to discover what is causing it following my knee replacements two years ago. But was very happy with my blood pressure, as I usually have white coat syndrome, see a doctor and my blood pressure shoots up.

Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 - I learned long ago, there are more ways to be happy and to be grateful for the things I can do, without feeling sad and blue. As for knee pain, I'm hearing more and more people in my area that has said the same thing. Two years after knee surgery, they had pain and had to go through it all over again. What's up with that?

As for the white coat syndrome, mine goes up too. Whenever my bp is taken, and I see that scowl face, I dismiss that person and tell them, come back in about five to ten minutes and let's see if the numbers drop. They always do!

Thank you, Lew Corcoran! I really liked your comment very much. Life is too short. We have to stay grounded and look to the good. Change is the essence of life - learning to adjust is just part of life.

Always, I wish you well.

I only wish our Governor had the attitude of yours.  Hopefully the next election we will elect a conservative governor provided all the illegals votes are removed from the election registry.  Congrats on getting things done early.

Leanne Smith - I wish your Governor did too. Unfortunately, people don't know what they are missing in leadership, if they have no one else to compare. Election integrity is crucial.
