The 5th Hearts of Carlsbad Village in Carlsbad Village is coming soon. What a fun opportunity to spend time in Carlsbad Village outdoors exploring! The first 4 years have been very successful and this year the format is new, lasting for 1 week with multiple opportunities to participate in and enjoy the Village.
The Carlsbad Village Association and Barrio Glassworks are sponsoring this newly imagined event from February 6th through the 14th. Hearts of Carlsbad Village is also supported by Visit Carlsbad, the official tourism marketing organization in the City of Carlsbad.
February is American Heart Month, and Valentine’s Day is a fitting end to the event. What could be more appropriate than a heart-themed treasure hunt and other ways to celebrate?
Here’s how the Hearts of Carlsbad Village works. 250 colorful hand-blown glass hearts created at Barrio Glassworks will be “hidden” in popular locations in the Village. This will happen from Feb. 7 – 13.
Each engraved glass heart is numbered and dated, and a collectible. You find it and you get to keep it. But please only “find” and keep 1 heart per family.
Hearts will be visible in iconic historic places, near downtown murals, at places one might sit and relax, and near local hotels. You are likely to find them simply by walking around, dining, or shopping in the Village.
OTHER WAYS TO CELEBRATE HEARTS OF CARLSBAD VILLAGE
There are a number of other ways to take part in the Hearts of Carlsbad Village.
- Register for 1 of the 250 Scavenger Hunt Cards, taking place for 1 and ½ hours on Valentine’s Day February 14th. Those who complete the Scavenger Hunt will receive a unique glass blown heart created by Barrio Glassworks.
- Book a Hearts of the Village special package at one of the 2 participating hotels in the Village – the Beach Terrace Inn or the Ocean Palms Beach Resort, both on Ocean Street. Guests will receive a special welcome goodie basket valued at $100 including a hand-blown glass heart from Barrio Glassworks.
- Celebrate Date Night in the Village on February 13th with chances to take home a hand-blown glass heart.
- Register to donate blood for the Heart of the Village Blood Drive on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14th. The Blood Mobile will be in the parking lot at Barrio Glassworks at 3060 Roosevelt Street. Those who donate will receive a hand-blown glass heart from Barrio Glassworks. NOTE - As of this morning the appointments are all booked.
