Your Cat Wants Answers! It's National Answer Your Cat's Questions Day

The Cat’s Out of the Bag… and It Has Questions! 🐱❓🐾❓

When Your Cat Has Questions, Today’s the Day to Answer

Cat QuestionsAttention, cat parents! January 22nd (yes, today!) is National Answer Your Cat’s Questions Day. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love cats, which is why I share a reminder about this day every year.

Today is all about bonding with your cat(s) and showing appreciation for their individual personalities. Whether they’re intently staring at you, meowing with purpose, or following you from room to room, National Answer Your Cat's Questions Day is a great excuse to pause, engage, and enjoy the special relationship you share—one question at a time.

10 Questions Cat Would Like To Have Answers For

Historians believe that cats and humans have been co-habiting for some 12,000 years. Despite these thousands of years of co-habitation with cats, we humans continue to be mystified by the cats around us. As it turns out, cats are just as mystified by us humans! And our cats have question for us humans!

"An ordinary kitten will ask more questions than a five year old."

... Carl Van Vachten

While cats might not ask burning questions or respond with words, their body language, expressions, and famous "cat-titudes" speak volumes. If you've ever wondered what your cat is really thinking when its sitting there sphynx-like, today is the day to pay close attention to your cat and give them some answers to their age-old questions.

"Cats are a mysterious kind of folk. There is more passing in their minds than we are aware of."

... Sir Walter Scott

Q&A With A Cat On National Answer Your Cat's Question Day

If you're a cat lover, like myself, be sure to check out Ellen's video about National Answer Your Cat's Questions Day. No matter how many times I've watched this video, I laugh like crazy each time! I bet you will, too.

One question I do know so many cats are asking today and every day is "when will I get my fur-ever home?" There are so many beautiful cats in shelters just waiting for you to give them a loving, fur-ever home. Why not answer that question today and go to your local shelter and adopt one of these cats? Here in Greater Charlotte, you can find beautiful cats to adopt at the Humane Society of Charlotte.

Hello Nina - I wonder if cats are feeing (or is that feline?) when people are pussy footing around some situations.  After all, doesn't the referenced kitty really want to be stroke, fed or otherwise receive the attention they rightly deserve.  Hmm sounds kinda like a Far Side cartoon by Gary Larson caption in process.  😸

Michael Jacobs good morning, Michael... I knew I'd get a truly clever response from you on this post. And you did not disappoint!

I am glad that I don't have to worry about getting answers from cats since that seems like it would be a very difficult thing to do, haha.

Brian England hi Brian... if I've learned anything from living with both cats and dogs... they have the ability to communicate what they want. We just need to pay attention.

Good morning, Nina.
What a fun post. If I had to guess, I'd say Taj is reminding you not to even think about sitting in his chair!

Nina Hollander, Broker

Carol Williams thanks, Carol. Actually, Taj is very sweet and will often share that chair with me an snuggle. The bigger problem is when he wants to snuggle on my lap and I'm on my desk chair.

Good morning Nina. This is an easy one for me. No cats! Both the wife and I are allergic. My best friend has two cats, Jimmy and Charley, who are treated like royalty and he speaks to them regularly. Enjoy your cats.

Wayne Martin hi Wayne... I know only too well about the cat allergies in your household! Of course, cats are treated like royalty... that's because they are royalty. I speak to both my cat and my dog and they quite understand what I am telling them.

Fun, warm, and well written, Nina Hollander.

You balance humor with heart in a way that feels genuine, not gimmicky. The message about connection, attention, and care comes through clearly, and the adoption reminder adds real meaning beyond the fun theme.

Posts like this work because they show personality, community involvement, and authenticity, which is exactly what builds trust and long-term relationships, both in business and in life.

Good Thursday morning, Nina. We do not have a cat in our home. However, Dolores has suggested one several times. Our home was designed with a cat closet.

Hi Roy... I'd have loved a cat closet... then again, we always have a cat. Such a great companion.

Good morning Nina. I like cats in other people's homes  I have always been a dog lover and like my dogs at least 50 pounds or more.

Jan 22, 2026 07:00 AM
Nina Hollander, Broker

Leanne Smith we are also dog lovers and prefer larger dogs to the little yappers. But that being said, I've had a cat since I was six years old and outside of my college years and grad school year, I've always had at a cat (or more) in  my home.

I know Sylvester is always asking Annie why did you bring him into the house?, about me. Or When is it time for me to be fed? He is totally obsessed with her following her everywhere and hissing at everyone else.

Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 hi Nick... my husband says our cats have always been obsessed with me, as well. But none have ever hissed at him or anyone else. They'll take him in my absence.

Joan Cox, Retired Broker/Owner Taj gets his wet food first thing in the morning... dry after that... he seems happy and doesn't ask for more.

Hi Nina- I have no idea what our two cats were asking me. Baby Grey would often sleep on my pillow above my head. I think he would ask me "When are you going to leave me alone?"

Kathy Streib good morning, Kathy... indeed, there are cats who'd just as soon be left alone.
