Snowstorm Survival Guide: Here are some best local shops

With a major snowstorm coming our way, I hit the shops to see who had the best deals and stock, and what the prices were. Here is HelpfulHannah's boots to the ground list in Bensalem and NE Philly

  •  Lous farmers market
  • Star Buy: Pot Pie, loaded with chicken and veggies! homemade and delicious. Price is $14.99
  • Eggs: $2.99/dozen (or 2 dozen for $5.00)
  • Bread & Dairy: 2 ft. Seeded Italian Rolls ($3.99) and Quarts of Milk ($2.39).
  • Bonus: They have fresh tomato pie from a local bakery!

The store was packed, and the staff were stocking up for their customers' needs

📍 Produce Junction (Bensalem)   Winner for Best Prices! Even with the crowds, the atmosphere was charming and polite.

  • Egg Deal: This is the place for eggs—$1.50 a dozen or 3 dozen for $4.00.

    • Produce: Everything was excellent and very fresh.

    • Home Comforts: They have a beautiful selection of flowers and plants, plus reasonably priced snow melt.

    •

📍 Acme

I finished my trip here for baking essentials like cream cheese, sour cream, and butter.

Note: The deli line at Lou's was a bit long, so Acme is a good backup, though be prepared—it was the most expensive stop of the day!

The Bottom Line: Don’t panic! Our local stores seem well-prepared with food and essentials. Stay safe, stay warm, and enjoy the snow!

While you're prepping, check your gutters to prevent ice dams and ensure you know where your main water shut-off valve is in case of frozen pipes. Stay safe and warm!

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400  I am so lucky to live in a community like Delaire Landing, where the roads are cleared, and neighbors look after each other. There are many stores to shop for supplies. Stay warm- Sheila

Good morning, Hannah... our risk is power failure because we are expecting an ice storm, not a snow storm. So my shopping has been for things that won't spoil quickly and which I can prepare on my gas cooktop.

Nina Hollander, Broker  Ice is so dangerous; stay in. We were fortunate to receive all the new power from the underground electrical lines. This, however, was why I also purchased premade food - Stay warm and charged up -Nina

Hannah Williams hi Hannah.... majority of power lines are underground here in my area, but it doesn't take much to take a power station out if trees topple on power lines in areas served by the same power station.

Ellie McIntire  I was going to go out for more essientials but I think it would be overkill. I have so much food best to use what I have. Black bean soup will have to wait, as I have a feeling it will be a long winter - Stay warm and enjoy

That is a really good deal on eggs, but these days I try to only eat eggs produced by chickens that are not fed corn, soy, or flax, which is very difficult to find, haha.

Brian England  OMG, I am just so happy to find eggs that are not $10 a dozen, and when cooked, they will make delicious meals -Enjoy your sunny weather - Counting the days until the pool opens😀

Good morning Hannah. While your reviews are most helpful to locals, for the rest of us in the path off the storm it is also a wake up call to be prepared. Stay warm and safe.

Wayne Martin  Yes, and I hope you and your wife are safe and have food in the house. It should be a good weekend to catch up on movies, as long as the power does not go out. I saw Train Dreams on Netflix last night, think you would enjoy - Stay warm Wayne

Hannah the price of eggs and gas have come down substantially from a year ago.  Eggs are less than half the price they were a year ago, and gas has come down more than $1.00 around here.  I hope you are all set for the snow storm.  Stay safe!!!

George Souto  I was shocked by the price of eggs, and gas was in the high threes. I am all stocked up and decided to call it a day. Let the trucks bring in the supplies, and the last-minute shoppers scurry. We were given # of high school students who, for $10, will come and shovel out our car

Hi Hannah= I went on Wednesday and the lines here at HEB were long but moved quickly. We always have staples in stock but I wanted fresh produce for the weekend.

Kathy Streib  I certainly will not go hungry. I will miss going out, Dany, tonight, but I am afraid the snow might start early, and I don't want to slip and slide. So I will stay in and watch a movie. Stay warm Kathy

Hannah, did the snow stop or are you expecting more.   We could sure use some here, our ski resorts are lacking, big time.
