FAQ

Can I sell my home during the foreclosure redemption period in Michigan?

Often, yes — but it’s usually complex. In Michigan, after a foreclosure sale, the former owner typically has a redemption period to redeem the property by paying the redemption amount (plus allowable costs/interest). During that time, the former owner may be able to sell or transfer their remaining interest (often described as “redemption rights”), but any buyer generally must address the redemption requirements and timing.

This is general information, not legal advice. Redemption rules and timelines vary by situation. If you’re in a redemption period, consider speaking with a Michigan real estate attorney or housing counselor for guidance on your specific case.
