Toasted

No doubt Timmothy's cartoon was inspired by the death our toaster. Ours did NOT die a peanut butter death, just natural causes. I have a tendency to purchase at Menards because of price but that doesn't always work out well. Our deceased toaster cost less than $20 and it looked like our new toaster but in less than a year one side (half of the toaster) quit working and now the otherside gave out. It would still work if you had the patience to manually hold the toast down until it reached your desired color.

No one in our household has that much patience.

NEW TOASTER                   OLD TOASTER

The new toaster cost twice as much so hopefully it will last twice as long (or longer). The moral of the story is let your wife buy the stuff for her kitchen... I wouldn't want her to purchase the tools for my garage.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. You can follow Timmothy on FB as Titus & Philemon and you can also check him out on Instagram as Instagram.com/titus and philemon/ .For Timmothy's website type timmtimmothy.com into your browser. I tried to put it in a link here but it refuses to work. Do NOT put anything in front of timmtimmothy.com or it will not work.

Good morning, Bob... I learned not to be "cheap" about small appliances like toasters, coffee makes, hair dryers, etc. The cheap ones die too quickly and over time you end up spending more money replacing them. I used to go through two hair dryers a year. Many years ago I sprung for a $150 professional dryer when on sale. It lasted me 20 years. I replaced it with another one two years ago at $150 on sale and I expect I'll have it now till I die.

Isn't it funny Nina Hollander, Broker how at our age we consider if a product will outlive us or not. I even had that in mind when we rescued Baby.

Haha, that is not a good thing to do at all, but I doubt it is ruined; it will just be difficult to clean up, haha.

I would much rather spend the money on an appliance and not have to purchase multiple ones! Good cartoon and message.

Good morning Bob. I defer to my wife on kitchen items as she is the cook. She defers to me on tools in the garage. And, we live a happy life on those issues. Enjoy your day.

Hi Bob,
Your post reminded me of a quote I heard many years ago that has stuck with me:
"The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten".

I'm sure you can see how this applies easily to real estate, especially when choosing an agent.

That is a great quote to learn and apply to life Carol Williams .

Hello Bob, isn't it funny that old items last longer and cost lots less in the the old day but this happens.  Hope your wife buys things for the kitchen and that you can buy your tools.

Thanks Will Hamm . I am notorious for buying cheap but I'm still learning even at 71.

Hello Bob "RealMan" Timm I think, higher priced products last longer that lower prices products. Make good use of the new toaster.

I'd say that is true in most cases John Pusa . Some times I will purchase a cheaper item because I know I won't use it often.

So far so good Kathy Streib . It's nice not to have to take turns at getting ones toast.
