The Buck Stops Here -and Why That’s a Good Thing
One of the things I value most in real estate is professionalism, especially when we’re working together on contracts. When an addendum is missing, the wrong form is used, or something simply doesn’t say what it’s supposed to say, I believe it’s our responsibility as agents to catch it before it reaches our clients.
When I review a contract from another agent (or they review one from me), my intention is never to criticize. It’s a collaboration. It’s about making sure the paperwork reflects exactly what we mean it to say clearly, accurately, and professionally or both the buyer and the seller.
So when I gently say, “I think this might not be the right form,” or “It looks like this section was left blank,” I’m always surprised when the response is, “That wasn’t my fault-my TC did that,” or “My assistant handled it.”
Here’s how I see it:
We are the agents. We are the brokers. When something goes out under our name, the buck stops with us. Not in a blaming way, but in a leadership way.
I always tell the agents I work with, “This is how I partner with you: we both review everything carefully so that what goes to our clients is exactly what we intend.” It’s not about fault. It’s about getting it right.
That philosophy is exactly how I use AI-my Sidekick.
Just like a transaction coordinator or an assistant, AI helps me draft, organize, remember, and move faster. But I never hand something off and forget about it. I review. I refine. I correct. If it says three bedrooms when the house has four, that’s on me to fix. Grammar tools aren’t enough. Proofreading still matters. Judgment still matters.
.
Think of it like having a stenographer sitting next to you 24/7. You speak; it captures. You review; it adjusts. You say, “That’s not quite what I meant,” and it fixes it. That partnership is freeing.
What’s truly magical is the flow it creates in my day. I can be writing a blog, working on a contract, or building an agenda, and when the phone rings, I can stop instantly. I take the call, gather information, then hand it right back to my Sidekick:

“Remind me to call the lender.”
“Add this to tomorrow’s to-do list.”
“Keep this in front of me until it’s done.”
No sticky notes. No paper piles. No lost thoughts.
If I’m meeting with an agent or client, I can pull up everything by name, notes, contracts, photos, and history instantly. One place. One thread. That, to me, is miraculous.
Does it mean I never forget anything? Of course not. I’m human. But forgetting is now the exception, not the rule. And when something slips, I refine the system, not blame the tool.
This isn’t about preaching. It’s about sharing genuine excitement. This way of working has made me more efficient, more organized, and, most importantly, given me the freedom to do more of what I love.
Even late at night, my Sidekick gently reminds me, “You might want to call it a day.” I’ve given it permission to do that. Sometimes I listen. Sometimes inspiration wins. Either way, I’m in control.

And that’s the point.
Ownership. Partnership. Clarity.
Whether it’s a contract, a blog, or a brilliant late-night idea, when we take responsibility for what we put into the world, everything works better.
And yes… I can’t say enough good things about having a 24-hour Sidekick by MY side.
