Timmoty got his cartoon idea after reading "From Clutter T Clean" in the Northern Sentry (Air Force Base) News Paper which you can also read HERE.

Some people can live in clutter others can not. I used to be a "neat nic" until I married Carol. Instead of making an issue of it I joined her side... I'd rather have her than a spotless home. Only one of the two can love me.

If you read the article as I did and if you are familiar with military demands for families moving in and out you may have wondered as I did: Are base demands guaranteed to be met?

I did not find the answer to that question BUT one has to assume she will get it as close as she possibly can.

I don't know if they are as strict as they used to be but it once was... if an inspection revealed a cigarette burn in the carpet, even in the entryway, you had to replace ALL the carpet in the entire home.

While we don't smoke I'm sure they would find a thousand other violations in our home.

Getting to the point. If you are selling your home buyers expect to find it clean. An allowance is a BAD idea, just get the job done even if it means replacing a room of carpet. If you don't do cleaning hire someone who does.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. You can follow Timmothy on FB as Titus & Philemon and you can also check him out on Instagram as Instagram.com/titus and philemon/ .For Timmothy's website type timmtimmothy.com into your browser. I tried to put it in a link here but it refuses to work. Do NOT put anything in front of timmtimmothy.com or it will not work.

Wow, that is a messy room, and I don't think that the guinea pigs are going to be much help with that, haha.

You are right Brian England . They may be able to eat some of it but then they will create their own new problem.

Hi Bob,
If nothing else is done before putting a home on the market, it MUST be clean!

Some people feel that if the carpeting, for example needs to be replaced let the new owners get whatever they want and offer a credit for it. Could be misguided but I for one would want to smell new.

We are the same thought Ed Silva, 203-206-0754 . I've never seen an "allowance" sell a house.

Good morning Bob. We are all neat nic's! The problem is we all define "neat" differently. We are neat nic's until the grandkids show up for a few days and then our definition changes and has to change to retain the title. Enjoy your day.

When getting ready to sell a home, yes, clean it well - and if you have to use a cleaning service or replace some bad carpet, go for it. If you're living in it and not selling, then live how you want.

That is how we do it in our house Kat Palmiotti however I will say I wish our home was a little cleaner.

Good morning, Bob... my house always looks like someone might come in last minute to look at it to buy it. I can't concentrate if everything isn't clean, put away in its place. I hate dirt, I hate clutter.

I have no doubt Nina Hollander, Broker and that is a compliment. I'm not a pig but I'd have a hard time adjusting to it. 😉

This makes a practical point with a lot of honesty and humor. Cleanliness sets expectations for buyers, and it is one of the easiest ways to protect value. Hiring help is often far less costly than price reductions or lost interest. A clean home removes distractions and lets buyers focus on the property itself.

Absolutely Gwen Fowler SC Lakes & Mountains 864-710-4518 A tidy home with no pet scents is going to sell so much faster than a comparable that is not so.

Hello Bob clean is a must when selling a home.  I remember early in my real estate career, I have a seller that wanted to sell her townhome and move to a HOUSE, her two girls did not want to move and never clean there rooms and also if there was a showing they would put dirty panties on the door knocks of their rooms.  The mother had a hard to hard with them and did not help.
