Family first is the bond

By
Real Estate Agent with Wayne M Martin

This is my third entry to the February challenge being co-sponsored by Patricia Feager and Lew Corcoran. each could well be a prime candidate to be featured if they were not the sponsors. Each is worthy of selection. As you may now know if you read my second entry my time here in the Rain has developed a long list of worthy candidates. That said there is one active here that shares a close bond with my line of thinking.

And, that is Bob "RealMan" Timm. Is it that we share natures lack of hair as we age? No. Is it his love of camping? No, I do not like camping. Is it his love of cold weather living in Minot? No. Neither one of us likes the cold weather. The proper answer is his love and dedication to family.

I relocated from Florida back to Chicago to be closer to my son when I retired. I was here when my first grandchild was born. The wife and I cared for him daily until he went to preschool at age 3. Next was my granddaughter who we cared for the first 3 years of her life.

Bob and I become friends here in the Rain right after my wife and I relocated. Then we started with phone calls and spoke about family. I have spoken with his son Timmothy and purchased both of his published books. Bob, sidelines as a notary in retirement to have an office location so he can promote Timmothy's art. Promoting the art is his vocation, family first, and being notary offsets the rent and gives him something to do.

His daughter Tina is now married, living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Guess what Bob is thinking of doing? Yep, like me relocating to be closer so he can have time with his grandkids as I do. Tina and her husband have been put on notice by Bob to do their part. Think we have things in common that bring us close together?

I am willing to bet that his wife and Timothy are onboard with his line of thinking.
Bob and I have more in common than retirement.

And that sums it up for entry three. Enjoy your day.

Wayne Martin - my eyes are beginning to flood with tears of happiness for you, your family, and Bob "RealMan" Timm too! There is nothing more fulfilling in life to be in the presence with loving family. Your story about Bob is heartwarming - even in the cold of winter. No greater love is there to watch your grandchildren grow. Oh, those are the most precious feelings of love and devotion. Who needs candles to create a glow, when the birth of children brightens your life!

Thank you for this beautiful story about Family and sharing more about Bob Timm and his love for family too. Aging and retiring causes many people to think about retirement. The best way to spend your retirement years are with the family members you love and being present when new life is born. It's a story about going full circle in love, all over again. Your third entry is so beautiful! It touches my soul.

Thank you.

Glad you enjoyed it. These are the type of things I write best when off the of my head, not outlined and pondered.

I love this, Wayne!!!  I still remember when you announced that you were leaving FL to return to Chicago. I understood but could not yet grasp leaving a year 'round resort state.

Now that I've returned to Houston, I get it, and not just intellectually.  I feel the connection with family and my home state of Texas.

Hi Wayne... what a lovely post. Indeed, Bob "RealMan" Timm is all about family, as are you. It is certainly a privilege to live close to grandchildren and to watch them grow and prosper. Chris and I have not had the privilege of living close to family and grandkids for some 40+ years. But we remain close to all and now to the great-grands who live in Oregon... technology is amazing to help us do that.

When I become a managing broker in Ft. Myers a fellow in another office across the hall asked me to list his home because he was moving back to Milwaukee to be closer to his children and grandkids. Did not make real sense to me until I could not overcome the urge and JoAnn and I did it.

Expert guidance. Exceptional results.

What a heartfelt share, Wayne Martin. It’s easy to feel the thread that ties all of this together. The way you wove those moments of family, friendship, and the choices we make for the people we love hit home for me, and I’m glad you put it out there. Thanks for giving us a glimpse into something so genuine and grounding.

Bob and I share the importance of family bond. I can't wait, although not as anxious as Bob, for his first grandchild.

You chose well as Bob "RealMan" Timm  is a very basic type of personality and does so well to promote Tim's cartoon as well.
