Motivational Monday…Loyalty
Previously, on the day after the Super Bowl, I would be in temporary mourning for the loss of football… until August, when it resumed. While my love for the game remains, both the NFL and the NCAA have made it increasingly difficult for fans like me to maintain that same sense of loyalty.
What happened?
My opinion is that they did what many businesses, organizations, celebrities, and politicians have done…they lost sight of their audience.
Instead, they marketed to the people they believed to be the “today” crowd and what they wanted. They failed to say “no,” fearing social media attacks or other negative repercussions.
Of course, any business has to recognize that things, people, and times change and be ready to make adjustments.
At the same time, it’s worth remembering that there’s a reason certain people and ideas stick around.
In Texas, we have a phrase… “Dance with the one that brung ya.”
When you’re reconsidering your marketing efforts or considering rebranding your business, don’t forget the lesson learned by Cracker Barrel last year.
Whether you’re a teacher, parent, business, or agent…know and remember your audience!

Building trust takes time, but losing trust takes one poor decision.
