For February’s ActiveRain contest, instead of choosing just one member to highlight, I’m choosing a small but mighty core group, the people who quietly and faithfully keep our Tuesday Zooms alive week after week.
At the center is Debe Maxwell, CRS , who hosts, manages the tech, keeps us on schedule, lines up speakers, and somehow maintains order when it can feel a little like herding a room full of very smart, opinionated cats.
Alongside Debe are Eileen Burns 954.483.3912 Carol Williams , Kat Palmiotti, and George Souto, who announces weekly highlights and presenters, plus Kathy Streib, who reminds us in her column that Tuesday is coming (as if we could forget). But truly, there are many more who deserve mention, presenters, moderators, idea generators, topic creators, and consistent attendees who join from their offices, their homes, their vacations, occasionally enroute to appointments, and yes, sometimes hands-free from their cars.
Our ActiveRain Zooms began in March of 2020. We haven’t missed a Zoom, unless it fell on a holiday, and that level of consistency takes teamwork.
This small core group helps host, moderate, schedule, brainstorm, and secure presenters every single week, and that kind of ongoing coordination is no small feat.
Tuesday is permanently blocked on our calendars. I often joke, though it’s really not a joke, that there are only two hours in a week, I’m unavailable: my Sunday radio show and Tuesday Zoom.
It was during one of those early Zooms that we first talked about AI... no interest... way too complicated for me. But then Patty introduced us to a simpler assignment: create an image looking out of a home's window. That was the beginning for me.
Each week a different assignment. We all started to learn how to create images, we shared and learned from each other. (I kept getting weird fingers and toes.) Many of us went down that rabbit hole. Me? I just wanted to have fun and enhance my feature images. Did that change my blogging?
Take a look at any of my recent blogs, and you’ll see how much I enjoy adding colorful, creative images to bring my words to life. That spark started in a Tuesday Zoom.

My February highlight is not just a person, it’s this collaborative, generous, committed community that shows up every Tuesday.
