When The Winds Blow.

By

A windy night usually does not affect my sleep. Extreme winds might have me on edge if I start thinking about one of our large trees landing on our house.

Homeowners insurance will fix the house but it won't fix the loss of life had the tree above gone through someone's bedroom while they were sleeping.

I could take this post as a take-off on insurance, tree maintenance, the importance of a good night's sleep, or even to waking up to a new chore like shoveling.

I've decided to just let you finish the post in your own mind. There is to much here for me to handle alone.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. You can follow Timmothy on FB as Titus & Philemon and you can also check him out on Instagram as Instagram.com/titus and philemon/ .For Timmothy's website type timmtimmothy.com into your browser. I tried to put it in a link here but it refuses to work. Do NOT put anything in front of timmtimmothy.com or it will not work.

My brother was so lucky. He had a big tree fall in his yard. The tree missed his house and two of his neighbors homes...all by about 5 feet. It is as if God pushed it down.

This is a thoughtful and quietly powerful reflection. Sometimes the unspoken parts say the most, and you leave plenty of room for readers to connect it to their own experiences. It is a reminder that some risks go beyond repairs and policies, and that perspective often comes in the quiet moments we sit with ourselves.

Thank you Gwen Fowler SC Lakes & Mountains 864-710-4518 . I believe I have covered all the scenarios I suggest at one time or another in the past so I just thought I'd let the reader take it where ever they want.

Good Monday morning, Bob. I am glad that our City maintains the trees on our street. Many have been replaced over the years.

Same here Roy Kelley as far as boulevard trees and the power company trims anything close to their power lines but that still leaves several in my yard that I am responsible for.

We have had some really strong winds and very cold temperatures this past week. In fact walking our dog yesterday, I pointed out to one of my neighbors they had lost some siding due to the winds. We still have large piles of snow.

Hi Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 😊 We have had a few cold days and one week of the super deep freeze but all in all it's one of the warmest we have ever had. No more snow except where it was piled up. It all filled up my back yard as a lake but that is going down now as well.

Hello Bob and I have one neighbor that needs to have his tree trim and I get a limb that falls down on our fence.

I get that Will Hamm . My  neighbors own the trees that are next to my house but I pay a professional to come when needed as limbs start to grow my direction.

HI Bob... I've seen fallen trees like that in the Charlotte area from time to time. Homeowners really do need to take note of trees around their homes and develop a strategy to keep trees, while eliminating those that can cause a major problem.

Agreed Nina Hollander, Broker . The picture looks like winter as there are no leaves on any of the trees BUT the one that went through the house looks like it had been dead for years before falling... so to your point: maintenance is a must.

Bob "RealMan" Timm - I knew a couple that a 5th Wheel RV. They traveled a lot and thought they would spend the rest of their lives home free to move around until the end. But one day, a great big tree fell on the RV and destroyed their home on wheels. When they called their insurance company, they were not covered for anything destroyed by natural causes. The old Oak Tree was the natural cause.

That would be horrible Patricia Feager . Now I need to check with my insurer.

Hi Bob= You point out something so important for all homeowners. We've had hurricanes, tornadoes, and a derecho in Houston. Usually it's the trees that fall into power lines that cause the most damage.
