For a few years after my divorce, I hated Valentine’s Day.
It felt like a reminder that I was single and had a failed marriage under my belt. A group of friends and I even started having Anti-Valentine’s Day parties. And honestly? We had a lot of fun. We laughed, we ate good food, and we made the day into something we could handle.
During those years, I put my focus on my children, my extended family, and my friends. I poured my energy into the people who were already there, loving me through the hard stuff.
Eventually, I came to a place of peace with being single on Valentine’s Day.
Oh sure, I still have the thought sometimes: “It would be nice to have a boyfriend today.” But I don’t stay there. I push that thought aside and focus on the people I love and the people who love me.
To me, Valentine’s Day equals love.
Not just romantic love.
Love of family.
Love of friends.
Love that keeps you going when life feels heavy.
And that kind of love is worth celebrating.
Honestly, this is the same reason I do what I do as an Enrolled Agent. When someone is dealing with IRS letters, wage garnishments, or years of unfiled returns, it doesn’t just affect their finances. It affects their sleep, their relationships, their confidence, and their peace of mind. Sometimes the best “Valentine’s Day gift” you can give yourself is getting the stress off your shoulders and getting a plan in place.
