Declutter PLEASE!

By
Real Estate Agent with Dick Betts National Speaker SL3537832

This week I had a photo shoot on a new listing, I brought four members of my team in a week before and we made of list of what to hid and move.  The seller did a good job, I showed up around half hour early and had a few more things to hid.  When the photographer who we work with regularly arrived he moved even more things.  This from an article I read about clutter and real estate.

Decluttering is essential to make your home look more spacious, bright, and appealing, often leading to a faster sale and higher offersRemove personal items, excess furniture, and seasonal items to create a neutral, "move-in ready" feel, as buyers need to envision themselves in the space. Focus on clearing kitchen countertops, bathroom surfaces, and organizing closets.

Thinking of selling your home? Declutter!

Good morning Dick. Decluttering is the step right before staging. If you don't do the first one, don't bother with the second. Wish the sellers luck and move on. Enjoy your day.

This is a great real world example of how preparation makes a difference. Decluttering is rarely a one time task. It is a process that benefits from multiple sets of experienced eyes, including your team and the photographer.

What you described is exactly how strong listing presentation happens. Each step refines the space a little more until the home photographs clean, open, and easy for buyers to visualize themselves living there. Clear surfaces and simplified rooms consistently translate into stronger first impressions, better photos, and ultimately better results for the seller.

Expert guidance. Exceptional results.

What a helpful reminder this is, Dick Betts. And it gave me a little laugh picturing the whole team tucking things out of sight before the camera clicked. The way you broke down why decluttering matters makes the message land even stronger, and it’s the kind of nudge sellers need when they’re gearing up for the market. Thanks for sharing something so practical and easy to put into motion!

Dick Betts my desk does not look as bad as that kitchen counter, but it could use a little cleaning.

When the mess is all over the house like that, it causes one to believe that the essentials have also been ignored and probably best to move on to the next house.

HI Dick- in this day and age, I'm often surprised when I see listing photos that show the home has not been edited of all the excess.
