Friday the 13th… Spooky or Just Silly?
Is it unlucky? Lucky? Or just another excuse to blame the day for spilling your coffee?
"Don't be superstitious. Nothing will happen on Friday the 13th that cannot happen on Saturday the 14th."

So on Friday the 13th do you lean into the drama of it all, or does it barely register on your radar?
Some people won’t fly. Some avoid big decisions. Some swear the universe is up to something. And others? They’re just excited it’s Friday.

A Fun Little Fact
Any month that starts on a Sunday will have a Friday the 13th.
And good news (or bad news, depending on your vibe): in 2025, there’s only one Friday the 13th!
Where Did This Even Come From?
Believe it or not, people weren’t always worried about Friday the 13th. The whole “unlucky” thing didn’t really catch on until the 1800s.
The number 13 has always had mixed reviews. Some cultures love it. Others… not so much. Friday itself got a bit of a gloomy reputation in Christian tradition, and somewhere along the way the two teamed up for a PR problem.
Thank Pop Culture for the Drama About Friday the 13th
In 1907, author Thomas W. Lawson wrote a book called Friday, the Thirteenth about stock market chaos.
Then came the 1980 horror movie Friday the 13th — and that pretty much sealed the deal. Cue the ominous music.
Now it’s such a thing that:
Some buildings skip the 13th floor.
Airlines sometimes see fewer bookings.
And plenty of people just “play it safe” for the day.
But Wait… What If It’s Actually Lucky?
Here’s the twist: not everyone thinks 13 is bad.
In many Asian cultures, it’s considered lucky. In Judaism, 13 has strong spiritual meaning. In Italy, it’s tied to prosperity and good fortune. Some traditions even connect it to lunar cycles and feminine energy.
Personally? I like 13. It’s my lucky number — I even wear a little gold “13” charm. So when it lands on a Friday, I’m not hiding under the covers.
Besides, someone once said:
“If you think Friday the 13th is scary, try going a day without coffee.”
Now that’s terrifying! (At least to me it is!)
So today on Friday the 13th … are you dodging ladders today, or are you feeling extra lucky?
"I'm not nearly as afraid of Friday the 13th as I am of the people who are afraid of Friday the 13th."
