February 2026 AR Challenge
If Not For Them. . .
I read as well as re-read the February 2026 ActiveRain challenge announcement, guidelines and requirements. Forgetting to mention, unintentionally ignoring or purposefully passing over members who have left an impression on me in this community seemed like a possibility - maybe an inevitability.

Hence, this sole entry is submitted as the last day of the month becomes closer to reality. While it may veer from that introductory post, I believe the intent shared by Challenge co-hosts Patricia Feager and Lew Corcoran remains relevant in this post. At least for me.

In my opinion, welcoming members who decide to enter the blogosphere is a kind act. I admit my own AR history reveals reading, acknowledging or commenting on first-time blog posts has not consistently been a part of time spent on this site.
I am well aware the infrastructure, influence and impact in this community is different than in its earliest days. And as I have often repeated - adjustment and adaptation are parts of everyday life.
Putting our personal foundation in order may reinforce kindness as a strength. Building on it can expand possibilities exponentially - far beyond the boundaries of this community.

I remember my experience as a newly arrived blogger when it made me wonder - is anyone reading. I recall members, including many no longer active, reaching out to me in various ways even as I did not recognize the act in those early days on this site.
Newby members may not immediately inspire, add meaningful volume to the blogroll, share something that grabs our attention or provide evidence of real-life existence. It can be a new experience to put yourself "out there" in a new place.

I believe membership and participation can have simply complicated aspects.
Because of that, kindness continues to matter. And that's a point that can mean a lot as we continue to grow. If not for new members - I wonder, where would be as a community. The same might be said of those returning after not checking in for a while or those who may not interact with us. Yes, it's a diverse community. While my participation in the Rain may be pitter-pattering to a pittance - I still wonder about many sorts of stuff.
