At our recent Texas REALTORS® Winter Meeting, we heard Jeff Turner of Tangilla. This was the first time I had heard the term "humaneering". This talk was very interesting as he discussed how, for many, AI is replacing human interaction while providing information without emotions, feelings, or a moral compass.
Basically, an AI interaction can provide you with a lot of information, yet on the part of AI, there is no accountability. What this means is that the data can provide you with a plan, suggestions, and even advice, while there is ZERO moral accountability. If you have heard of the horrible incident of the young man who, after having a conversation with AI, determined he no longer wanted to live. This is the tragic reality we are facing today as we engage more and more with AI.
My takeaway from this session was the importance of discussing the realities of these AI conversations with my children and grandchildren. These AI platforms are sounding more and more conversational, yet there is NO real interaction. And, who is responsible for how the conversation is steered from the AI side?
The AI-generated data has ZERO accountability. Humans do have accountability. We also have feelings, emotions, and hopefully a moral compass. AI CANNOT replace true, human interactions. It should not, and this practice must be done keeping this fact in mind. As cool as AI can be, it must be kept in check.
AI is coming at us faster than anyone anticipated. Are you prepared to use AI in a responsible manner using HUMAN, CRITICAL THINKING? There is much to consider, and one must ask the question, "When is enough data enough?"
