Toronto Condo Rental -slow but still happening

Toronto Condo Rental

The Toronto rental market has been slow in recent years, in fact the slow down began during the pandemic when people starting working from home.

Many young people utilized their parents’ basements rather than pay the high rents in the Downtown core of the city.

Now that the provincial government is requiring its employees to comeback  and work in the office rather than from home, it is hoped that there will be an uptick in the rental market.

My colleague and I co-listed a two-bedroom unit in a condominium building on Yonge Street, in early February 2026 and within a few days we had an offer which was not accepted. Following this, there were several showings but no offers ……..

Then an agent called me to say he had showed the unit to his clients and they wanted to bring an offer but there were a couple of hitches ……. We talked, we found possible solutions, we negotiated ……. this went on back and forth and finally did arrive at a agreement …..  and the final stages are in progress.

Where I am, the rental market is handled outside of the normal real estate agent market. Rentals are not in our MLS system. I'm glad to hear you are able to help landlords and tenants as well as buyers and sellers.

Thanks for stopping by to comment. Many real estate agents here tend to shy away from rentals as it is a lot of work and not as lucrative as doing deals with buyers and sellers.

This is a very realistic snapshot of today’s rental market. Slow does not mean stalled, and your example shows how patience, communication, and problem-solving still get deals done. I like how you walked through the progression from early interest to negotiation and resolution. It reinforces that even in softer markets, transactions happen when agents stay engaged and work through the details rather than giving up.

Thank you for stopping by to comment. Yes, you are right, agents have to stay engaged and work ........ rather than give up.

Rosalind, we don't see many agents in Denver doing rentals, so I commend you for doing them.   Hope the market picks up soon for you and your landlords.

Thank you for stopping by to comment, Joan. In a slow real estate market the rentals keep me busy.
