ActiveRain Turned Out to Be More Than I Expected
As an agent working to get business back in 2007, each time the phone rang, I answered it, unless I was with a client already. It's called courtesy, but that's another story. It was from a loan officer that was also responsible for his company's marketing.
He spoke of this web site that is just real estate agents and professionals blogging about the business. Just the word blog in 2007 carried a curiosity as it was not very common. People went about a different tact to get business, but still this had enough difference to garner a look.
At that time, blogging was not very common, and as was the case for many, we read others and with some timidness an occasional comment. While we may have had a confidence with selling real estate, writing about it was a different story.
There were community managers that were there to help, but it was still a while before the confidence to post took over, and for most it was members only as who wanted their clients to know how lacking in confidence we were.
It would be almost 2 years before I posted my first blog, and it may have taken me almost as long to write it.
I may not have been unique, as the powers that be, started their RainCamps to teach people to blog. It was these camps and the challenges that followed that allowed the platform to begin its upward trend.
As with any social media site, interaction generates kinship and the more exposure the wider that kinship grows.

That is certainly the case with ActiveRain. I met people within my own state that I most likely would have never interacted with and still feel like they are friends today.
Across the country, I have met many an ActiveRain member and as happens, there is no hesitancy in the interaction, and if anything, there is a stronger bond created.
My presence on ActiveRain started on February 19, 2026. I had no clue what it would be when I started, but for sure, the family I enjoy today through the interaction is the best part of what I took from the platform.
