National Love Your Pet Day: Fur Real, They’re the Best🐾❤️Spoil Them Proudly!

"Sometimes the best medicine is unconditional love from your pet."

... Anonymous

What pet parent doesn’t understand the joy our furry, feathered, or even scaly companions bring into our lives? Every tail wag, gentle purr, and cheerful chirp is a reminder of the unconditional love they give so freely.

National Love Your Pet Day, celebrated each year on February 20, is the perfect excuse to give your pets a little extra appreciation. Whether you share your home with an energetic pup, a cozy lap cat, or a chatty parrot, today is about recognizing the comfort, companionship, and happiness they bring into our world.

Treat them to a favorite snack. Add an extra walk. Spend a few more minutes with belly rubs, head scratches, or playtime. However you choose to celebrate, make it count — because the love they give us every day is worth celebrating.

While National Love Your Pet Day may not be an “official” holiday and its origins remain a bit of a mystery, pet lovers everywhere embrace it wholeheartedly. Of course, in many homes — mine included — every day feels like Love Your Pet Day. And I have a feeling that’s true for households across America.

Here’s to the paws-itive impact our pets make in our lives — today and every day. 🐾❤️

We have a big bird. I talks all the time. If you yell at him he will let you know you are bad. He loves toast with butter  :)

Enjoying Every Day to Its Fullest!

Nina, we were on the same page today --- got to LOVE our pets today, just like every other day!  I took Lucy out for a walk the other day (it was 70 outside) and she loved it.   Running in the grass, and her tail was totally up with a crook in it.

Joan Cox, Retired Broker/Owner awww... how sweet. I never take my cats outside... although I did just catch Taj sitting on the table next to me front door trying to figure out the door lock. I guess he sees me moving it let Bingo in and out.

Nina Hollander, Broker I actually could probably let her out on the covered back porch, and she would just lay out there and watch.  BUT, we have foxes and raccoons, so no way.

Joan Cox, Retired Broker/Owner Mr. Marlow never had any interest in leaving the house. The farthest he would go is my front porch if I was sitting out there. Oliver did go walk-about a couple of times and then gut stuck in a neighbor's yard because he couldn't get back through the railings into our yard.

Nina Hollander, Broker - I do love pets and all creatures on earth. There never seems to be enough homes for all the ones that need to be adopted.

Patricia Feager good morning, Patricia. Here in Charlotte I see notices almost daily that the kennels at Animal Control are full and asking people to foster dogs. It breaks my heart. And then, every so often, I see notices that they are running out of food.

Nina Hollander, Broker - There has to be a solution. Perhaps a stiffer fee when puppies are purchased by buyers to be sent to Pet Shelters.

Landlords could also ask for larger Pet Deposits disclosing a portion goes to Animal Control.

Patricia Feager hi Patricia... the problem is that people faced with higher costs would just start abandoning their pets... and we see too much of that already.

Hi Nina,

Pets don't care about our accomplishments or our struggles. They simply care about being with us. That kind of loyalty is rare in humans.

For those fortunate enough to share their lives with a pet, every day becomes Love Your Pet Day.
