Journal Entry for Monday, 2/23/2025

There are only 7 more days until next Monday!

Write down your top 3 things to do. Write them down and count while crossing them off your list: 3 - 2 - 1 BLASTOFF! Now get yourself another cup of coffee.

Tell yourself the hardest tasks to do are a lot less painful than getting your tooth pulled - at least you're in control!!!

Celebrate your top achievements by thinking about crossing over the finish line in a relay race. Make your cell phone clock go off with a winning sound for each priority you finish!

Think about the small things that are so annoying but must be done like tiny bubbles. Point your finger to the imaginary bubble and pop it so it's gone. Don't tell anyone what you're doing - just keep smiling!

Think of the tasks you must do as a competition with your imaginary friend. Every time a task is done, open up a private notebook and give yourself a Happy Face. At the end of the day, count your Happy Faces!

When things get stressful practice Box Breathing! Inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4. It's the Navy SEAL standard for staying calm under fire.

When the going gets tough, and you must go on, excuse yourself and visit the restroom. Splash cold water on your face which triggers the mammalian dive reflex, instantly lowering your heart rate.

These are tips I created for myself to keep going. I hope whatever you do today, you do it well - Patricia

Good morning, Patricia... I have to admit I don't get all riled about about doing what needs be done day by day and week by week. I just do it.

Patricia Feager hi Patricia... I realize the "stuff" happens in life that interrupts calm. But I also believe that on the whole it's a choice to remain calm and collected most of the time.

Patricia, this is such an energizing way to start the week.

I love the 3 2 1 blastoff idea. Writing down the top three priorities and counting them down creates focus and momentum. Crossing off even one task builds confidence for the next.

The bubble popping visual made me smile. Those small, nagging tasks often take more mental energy than the large projects. Handling them quickly clears space for real progress.

Box breathing is also a powerful reminder. Simple techniques can reset our mindset in minutes. Staying calm and intentional is often the difference between reacting and leading the day.

Thank you for sharing practical tools that turn motivation into action. A strong way to begin Monday.

Gwen Fowler SC Lakes & Mountains 864-710-4518 - with the exception of Box Breathing, all the rest I thought up myself. Your compliment is greatly appreciated!

I laughed at the first line! Yes, 7 more days till next Monday.

As for the rest, all are great ideas. I have used box breathing and it does help one to stay calm.!

Kat Palmiotti - The box breathing is something I did not make up but all the rest were! Doing the Box Breathing is effective because we don't talk. Talking out loud can be very disruptive.

Hi Patricia,
I can't believe February is almost over. Time is marching on. Anna and I were just talking about the consciousness of attitude last night.

Carol Williams - it sounds like a great topic of discussion! Inside the gap within the consciousness of attitude lies your freedom and power! You are very lucky to be a close friend of Anna "Banana" Kruchten !

Patricia right now I a looking out my sliding door at 18" of snow and seem to think of anything else but how long it is going to take me to snow blow it with my snowblower ...... LOL

George Souto - If it's any consolation to you, I know what 18" of snow looks like and how hard it is to clear a path by shovel. I never had a snow blower in IL, but I would guess the snowblower takes less than half the time to shovel. Count your blessings - now snow shoveling for you...LOL

Here in TX, when they predict snow and if we get an inch or two the school district closes schools and I get an notice from the Town of Flower Mound to stay home and don't drive.... 🤣
