Carpe Diem Day: Because “Someday” Isn’t On the Calendar

“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.”
... Mother Theresa
Did you know there is a Carpe Diem Day? There is. And it's today!
Carpe Diem Day is your official permission slip to stop overthinking and start doing. It’s the one day where “Why not?” beats “What if?” Where you say yes to dessert, take the spontaneous road trip, send the bold text, or finally try that thing you’ve been talking about forever. Big or small, silly or serious, today is about grabbing life by the collar and giving it a joyful shake. No waiting. No excuses. Just pure, unapologetic, seize-the-day energy.
We hear the phrase, “Carpe Diem” or “Seize the Day” all the time, but what does it really mean? I suspect that the answers to this question is different for each of us. I've always loved how Erma Bombeck defined the concept of seizing the day: “Seize the moment. Remember all those women on the 'Titanic' who waved off the dessert cart.” (Being a dessert person, myself, I totally get this perspective.)
“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”
... Eleanor Roosevelt
Many of us have dreams about our "tomorrows." And fulfilling those dreams does begin with what we do to "seize the day" today. Who could argue with what Mahatma Gandhi and Eleanor Roosevelt said?
“The future depends on what you do today.”
Mahatma Gandhi
“Life is what you make it. Always has been, always will be.”
Eleanor Roosevelt
And as Gertrude Stein said:
“You look ridiculous if you dance
You look ridiculous if you don't dance
So you might as well
dance.”
I don't know about you, but I've been inspired to seize the day and dance... today, tomorrow, the day after!

"Carpe Diem."
Horace, The Odes of Horace
