February Challenge…Her Legacy Remains
As others have said, how can you possibly choose just one member to highlight? Even with the option of choosing four this month…how do you choose?
A name that immediately popped into my mind is a person who is no longer on the platform. In fact, Lenn Harley has not posted here for 10 years. And yet…I’m sure a week doesn’t go by that someone references her on ActiveRain.

When I began my journey here, I was scared to death of someone who described herself as “older than dirt.” Lenn was to the point and not afraid to share her opinions. I thought she hated home stagers.
However, during our first phone conversation, she said she didn’t hate home stagers. What she objected to was hearing stagers claim that home staging automatically results in a higher sale price. Lenn believed that this claim diminished the hard work and expertise of the agents.
I assured her that I agreed with her. Staging helps, but it was not the only factor necessary. Here’s what surprised me…she said, “I know…I’ve checked out your blog and website, and you don’t say that!”
We chatted from time to time, often about her love of skeet shooting. Once I asked her why she continued to drive into the DC area to attend classes and seminars, she said it was important to keep in touch with other agents. Though she was pretty much retired, she, like many agents, had referrals and needed to know who the agents were.
Lenn made it a point to know the different new home construction builders. And… not just the company, but she also visited the different communities in her area and met the superintendents at each one. Lenn also knew how to reblog a post. She didn't just hit the Reblog button; she wrote an introduction providing her own thoughts.

Lenn was known for her knowledge of copyright infringement and wrote posts about it. This came at a good time because blogging was still relatively new to many of us. And for many, what we learned in school was pretty far back in our rear-view mirror. Need a refresher on Copyright? And don't think she wouldn't come after you if you violated her property rights!!!
Lenn taught us how to cite information on our blog without infringing on copyright. And she wrote a cautionary post on citing something that has violated a "copyright holder's property."

I am forever grateful for all that Lenn taught me…the time she took to share what she knew and the legacy she left for us here.
This is my fourth and final entry in this month’s Challenge… February 2026 - AR Member Appreciation Month
