Take a Break

I do not remember the last time I had a pixelated computer screen but it seems to happen plenty often enough while watching streaming video on my television. I'm eager for warmer temperatures so when that happens I can put the leash on Baby and go for a walk.

I'm glad that I am well past the point of beating my head against the wall when things don't work. Taking a walk is my favorite thing to do when technology frustrates me.

Because of my jail ministry (The Noodle Ministry) I take a look at the jail roster every day. Regretfully one of the crimes I see most often is domestic violence. I'd say it's number two only behind drug abuse. This may surprise you but these days there are just as many women charged with domestic violence as men are. If only these men and women would learn to turn away and take a walk instead.

When technology frustrates me taking a walk clears my thoughts and lets me refocus. I love refocusing on God's creation as I walk. A bonus to taking a walk is I often run into someone I know and/or meet someone new that at least is a friend for the moment. Don't forget, friends can easily become clients.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. You can follow Timmothy on FB as Titus & Philemon and you can also check him out on Instagram as Instagram.com/titus and philemon/ .For Timmothy's website type timmtimmothy.com into your browser. I tried to put it in a link here but it refuses to work. Do NOT put anything in front of timmtimmothy.com or it will not work.

Good morning, Bob... taking a walk is certainly a good prescription for lessening frustration. As for domestic violence, I know enough about it to also know that the underlying factors of domestic violence are so much deeper and will never be resolved by taking a walk. It's very sad, but it's true.

I agree that the causes of domestic violence run deep but when a man or woman is feeling like throwing a punch would remember that they can walk away they need to do so. If they can not surpress their anger, even after a walk, it's time to walk out of the relationship completely (easier said then done with children involved).

Good morning Bob "RealMan" Timm ,

It's amazing how walking away from frustration can calm the should and taking a walk is a great way to put things into perspective. We have some angry people out there that have lost a grip on reality and need to take a pause for them to calm themselves. There is a reason we use to tell our children you are going in time out until you can calm down and be rational.

Dorie Dillard Austin TX what you said also reminded me that we were taught to count to 10 as well. Some people need to count to 1,000.

Taking a walk is much better use of time than staring at a computer screen, haha.

That's for sure Brian England . I used to work on computers as a hobby and I still do a little. They were always good reason to take walks.

We take two walks a day with the dog, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. But we don't run into any people when doing so!

Hi Bob,

I admire the work you do with The Noodle Ministry. Showing up consistently in a place most people would rather not think about says a lot about you.

Your observation about domestic violence is sobering. It is heartbreaking to think about how many lives are altered in a single moment of anger.

It is sad to think about those moments of anger Carol Williams . There is so much anger in the world today and I think the news giants cause a lot of it.

Be careful if you are taking your walk on icy days.

Keep up the good work in your community!

Thank you Roy Kelley . If there is a possibility of ice or snow on my walks I always wear my studded overshoes. They weigh a lot but the safety factor is well worth it.
