The March 2026 Challenge

First Things First

The March 2026 Challenge has some new changes. Your hosts Lew and Patricia hope you will be as enthusiastic about them as we are. This month there are 2 Challenges. Both Challenges begin on March 1, 2026; ending on March 31st by midnight PST (Great Northwest time). This is the first of 2 challenges. The 2nd March 2026 Challenge - Celebrating AR Lives Lost, can be found at https://activerain.com/droplet/JLZd. You may choose one or both Challenges.

Each challenge requires:

  • One Feature Photo
  • One or More Graphics in Your Post
  • 300 Words Minimum or More
  • Only 1 Post for Each Challenge

The Point System

Each challenge awards 1,000 points for participation. If you participate in Challenges #1 and Challenge #2, you will be awarded 2,000 points for the month. If you participate in just one challenge, the award is for only 1,000 points.

Note: If you submit two or more posts for Challenge #1 and two or more posts for Challenge #2, you will receive only 1,000 points for each challenge.

If you submit two or more posts for Challenge #1 or two or more posts for Challenge #2, you will receive only 1,000 points for the challenge you entered.

A Challenge for Story‑Seekers and Road‑Wanderers

The Charm of the Uncharted

Every one of us has taken a drive, a walk, or a wrong turn that led somewhere unexpected. Maybe it was a road that shouldn’t have existed, a town that didn’t appear on any map, or a place with a name so unusual you had to slow down just to read it twice.

And sometimes, those little unmarked corners of the world stay with you longer than the places you actually meant to visit.

For this month’s challenge, we want to hear your version of that moment.

Your Task

Write a post about a place you’ve been to, driven through, or stumbled upon that felt uncharted — a spot that didn’t show up on GPS, wasn’t listed on any map, or simply had a name that made you wonder how it ended up there.

It doesn’t have to be dramatic. It doesn’t have to be mystical. It just has to be real — something you saw, noticed, or experienced.

Maybe it was:

  • a forgotten crossroads with a hand‑painted sign
  • a tiny village you swear existed but can’t find again
  • a road marker with a name too strange to forget
  • a place that felt like it belonged to another time

Whatever it was, share the story behind it.

What to Include

  • The name of the place
  • How you found it
  • What made it memorable
  • Why it stuck with you

Points

Every qualifying entry earns 1,000 points.

How to Participate

You need to submit only 1 blog post with a minimum of 300 words. It must include a feature image and an image within the post itself. The images must be representative of the place you highlight within the post. For your efforts, you will be awarded 1000 points. But if you want those points, be sure to post a comment to this blog post with the link to the article.

Patricia Feager and I will be your challenge hosts, and we’re thrilled to see what you uncover. We can’t wait to read your stories and discover the hidden gems dotted across the fruited plain. And who knows, we might even comment back!

Hello Lew... I'll be the first to admit that my life has been pretty well charted... it's just how I roll. My approach has always been to figure out what can go off the rails up front to avoid doing so.

If this is Challenge #1 may I suggest you indicate so in the Title?

Thanks for pointing that out, Carol Williams. I can see how adding that note in the title would make things clearer for everyone, so I appreciate you taking the time to mention it. Always grateful for the extra set of eyes that help keep things running smoothly.

Lew and Patricia, I love creative challenge ideas. I think most of us have stumbled across a place like you are describing — a place made you stop and wonder how it ended up with that name or how it even got there. I think of "Nothing, AZ". :) Looking forward to reading the stories this month.

Mar 05, 2026 02:09 AM

Thanks for jumping in with that thought, Michael. Those odd little spots really do have a way of sticking with you, and Nothing, AZ is such a perfect example that it made me smile. I’m glad you’re looking forward to the stories because I think this month’s going to bring out some real gems.
