A Challenge for Story‑Seekers and Road‑Wanderers
The Charm of the Uncharted
Every one of us has taken a drive, a walk, or a wrong turn that led somewhere unexpected. Maybe it was a road that shouldn’t have existed, a town that didn’t appear on any map, or a place with a name so unusual you had to slow down just to read it twice.
And sometimes, those little unmarked corners of the world stay with you longer than the places you actually meant to visit.
For this month’s challenge, we want to hear your version of that moment.
Your Task
Write a post about a place you’ve been to, driven through, or stumbled upon that felt uncharted — a spot that didn’t show up on GPS, wasn’t listed on any map, or simply had a name that made you wonder how it ended up there.
It doesn’t have to be dramatic. It doesn’t have to be mystical. It just has to be real — something you saw, noticed, or experienced.
Maybe it was:
- a forgotten crossroads with a hand‑painted sign
- a tiny village you swear existed but can’t find again
- a road marker with a name too strange to forget
- a place that felt like it belonged to another time
Whatever it was, share the story behind it.
What to Include
- The name of the place
- How you found it
- What made it memorable
- Why it stuck with you
Points
Every qualifying entry earns 1,000 points.
How to Participate
You need to submit only 1 blog post with a minimum of 300 words. It must include a feature image and an image within the post itself. The images must be representative of the place you highlight within the post. For your efforts, you will be awarded 1000 points. But if you want those points, be sure to post a comment to this blog post with the link to the article.
Patricia Feager and I will be your challenge hosts, and we’re thrilled to see what you uncover. We can’t wait to read your stories and discover the hidden gems dotted across the fruited plain. And who knows, we might even comment back!
