New Construction Spending For December Of 2025

On February 27, 2026, the U.S. Census Bureau reported nationwide construction spending higher 0.3% to $2,168.8 billion in December of 2025 from $2,163.1 billion November of 2025, but lower 0.4% from $2,176.6 billion in December of 2024.

Nationwide private construction up 0.5% to $1,647.1 billion in December of 2025 from $1,638.8 billion in November of 2025.

Residential construction increased 1.5% to $916..2 billion in December of 2025 from $902.5 billion November of 2025.

Non residential construction declined 0.7% to $749.0 billion in December of 2025 from $736.3 billion in November of 2025.

The public construction decreased 0.5% to $521.7 billion in December of 2025 from $524.3 billion in November of 2025.

The educational construction down 0.8% to $114.0 billion in December of 2025 from $114.9 billion in November of 2025.

The highway construction dropped 0.3% to $141.4 billion in December of 2025 from $141.8 billion in November of 2025.

From your posts, I can tell that a lot of money is spent on new construction, so it's difficult for me to understand how we could ever have a housing shortage, haha.
