The Great Snore Off

Over-all I look at politics as a great snore-off. Depending upon your view one party speaks the truth and the other side tells nothing but lies. While it is important it just seems to be the same old story day after day and year after year. 

Wake me up the day of the clown show and I'll go vote, take a nap, and then the following day I'll see which Bozo won.

I believe in democracy and I do take it seriously. Just look at a nation that isn't a democracy and how many citizens give their lives as martyrs in hopes of turning things around. Such a nation is in the forefront of the news today, just look at how the whole world is at war to either save a ruthless dictatorship or to free an oppressed peoples.

Voting is a privilege and for the 54 years I've been an eligible voter I have voted in every election I could. Many men and women have given their lives for the cause of democracy so that I can vote and I'm not about to let them down.

If you have a primary you can vote in today I encourage you to honor those who gave their lives so that you can vote to get out there and vote.

May the best clown win.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Bob, I appreciate your blend of humor and conviction here.

You may call it a snore off, but your record of voting in every election for over five decades speaks louder than any joke. That kind of consistency shows respect for the privilege.

Your reminder that many around the world risk their lives for the chance to vote puts things into perspective. It is easy to grow weary of the noise, but participation still matters.

When a person votes, they have a voice, if not, they shouldn't complain about the outcome. I am looking for in-person voting to make a comeback, Bob, that way, I can see my neighbors and say hello!
