Journal Entry for 3/3/2026

There are many thoughts swirling in my head these days. A word that consistently pops up on ActiveRain is Networking. This month there are two AR Monthly Challenges. One is about remembrance; another is about uncharted places. Both challenges are about connecting and reconnecting through life stories.

Something I learned from ActiveRain is that it isn't just education that can boost your career - it's the people you meet, your colleagues in the real estate industry that often become the very fabric of your soul.

We might not all climb mountains, but a mountain of research and development shows, people need people. We learn from other people. The people who travel and discover other parts of the world bring back their stories and we remember those who shared life changing stories. There are also people who breathed life into building this platform and they were people we enjoyed communicating with on ActiveRain. Remembering them is a way to heal and keeping good memories alive.

Keeping memory alive continues the bonds we shared that make us stronger. The people that came into our lives at times we needed them most, often go unnoticed, until we stop, pause, and think about the value they gave so freely, without admission fees. They shared their time and wisdom.

Life is an unchartered challenge. We make a decision. Perhaps we planned a journey, and maybe, we took a leap of faith. Or just maybe we heard about quirky places with unusual names we would consider visiting or we did visit! Whether we do or we don't, if we have opportunities and we take them, it can be life changing. And then again, if we don't, we could regret missed opportunities.

When you share a story about someone who passed, you are performing an act of a form of resurrection. This is as close to magic, that I can think of. Sweet names, uncharted places, and beautiful people need to be resurrected in our minds and shared with others.

Building rapport with people is a necessity in business. For mental health and to keep the mind sharp, sharing the value learned from people who lived and passed serves as a reminder of excellent leadership. May they never be forgotten.

Hi Patricia,

Since I got most active on ActiveRain AFTER I retired, it has never been about getting business for me. Education matters, but it is the relationships, the encouragement, and the shared stories that make it worthwhile.

I love your thought that sharing memories is a form of resurrection. When we speak their names and tell their stories, we keep those connections alive. That is not just networking, that is community... and dare I say, chosen family.

I appreciate you like what I have written. By writing first thing in the morning, I am more inspired. Retirement means so many different things to so many people. For me, it's like taking off the old high heal shoes and learning to glide with pride and joy without feeling like my feet hurt, and I just want the day to be over. I get excited waking up, knowing I have one more day - now how will I use this day, today?

Yes! Every thought, idea, learning experiences, and shared memory is a form of resurrection - it's a gift that gives us a chance to keep on giving the stories we remember through the memories we have from other people.

Patricia when I was doing mortgages I use to attend as many networking events as possible.  These events were fun, and they generated lots of business for me through the years.

Good Morning Patricia!  It's all about community no matter what ones age is at the time. ActiveRain is more like a family and has been for years.  The first person I met when I joined AR was Lottie. I flew over to SF for a AR raincamp and just happened to be seated next to her.  I miss her. She was a lovely person!
