It’s that time of year again. Starting this Sunday sun will appear to rise later in the morning and set later in the evening in most of the U.S. thanks to the long-standing—and unpopular time change to make sure clock time is in sync with correct time.

The practice of changing the clocks twice a year is not popular, dubiously effective in achieving its intended aims. People argue its intend was increase productivity is not applicable these days.

While the majority of the U.S. continues to jump forward and back an hour each year, some American lawmakers have tried to making Daylight Saving Time permanent. Most other countries don’t observe the practice, including several that have ended the practice. Most of Asia and Russia. Mexico has not adopting this dated practice.

When do the clocks go forward in March 2026?

For the states that observe it, Daylight Saving Time begins on the second Sunday in March each year. In 2026, that is March 8, meaning that at 2 a.m. local time on Sunday, the clocks will move forward by one hour, to 3 a.m.

I hope you catch on hour of loss other from sleep.

Thanks for the reminder, Sam! It’s definitely that time of year again. While losing that hour of sleep is never fun, I always look forward to the extra daylight in the evenings—it makes those late-afternoon home tours so much more pleasant! It’ll be interesting to see if the legislation for permanent Daylight Saving ever actually crosses the finish line.

Sam Shueh Good reminder to set the clocks ahead! The lost hour is tough, but the longer daylight hours are always a nice benefit. ⏰☀️

The time changes are so outdated and should be done changing. What started in a war time economy for too long ago should have been reversed shortly after the war.

I see one state that is white because we don't change times, but everyone around us changes, which still messes me up, haha.

I recall some realtor missed the open house because they forget to change the time. The ones I have to deal with are individual clocks like microwave and cars.
