If ActiveRain Were a Movie. . .

The Academy Awards ceremony is this weekend, Sunday, March 15. The Oscars have been a topic that has held my interest for a long time. It has also entered the blogosphere of this community underscored by some memorable contests over the years.

My days of watching movies in theaters continues. Sharing posts of such things and other stuff has decreased for me even as wondering is ongoing. Many sorts of things evolve.

I am well-aware that any aspect of this event may not be on the radar for you. Like the spectacle of the awards celebration, I believe interrelatedness and interconnectedness of many things remain plot points in stories regardless of where one sits with most subjects.

Yes, we adapt and adjust. This familiar retort enters the scene in countless ways.  On celluloid and beyond.

As this post title suggests, our mindsets seem to stream that storytelling has evolved from its earliest days. That is especially as true in filmdom as it is in the AR-world-auditorium. The theatrics may not be as evident as portrayed on screen, but it can be noticed when carefully reading between the lines.

Even in this community something as seemingly straight-forward as the concept of open house events can show a bias. It's perception after all. Likewise, humorous points of view, moments of drama and many sorts of adventure can also play various forms where subjectivity doesn't always show clearly for each member of the audience. Short as well as longer tales are part of this free-for-all-festival.  With and without subtitles as understanding can be difficult. Yes, I can see comparisons.

Critical acclaim whether it be over-the-top praise, a groan-deserving drive-by comment or some other quasi-accolade that is awarded as a benefit of participation are part of the production on this platform. Anyway, on with the show. . .

It is good to see your post this morning. Your writing craft is always fun and interesting. No matter what life experiences are faced, whether we ourselves or others are in the scene, life is good. We just need to stay positive. For after all, when our eyes wake up, it's on with the show!

Lights! Cameras! Action!

Michael, at the very least, you force me to think a little harder to come up with an appropriate comment .........

And like the movies, there are still those that will go to see it on the big screen, regularly and the rest that wait for the video to come out if they see it at all.

Good morning Michael. Some prefer the big screen and some edit for the video or streaming to provide the show. We do a little of both. With that I will not be watching the Oscars since I try to avoid political commentary shows provided by those unqualified to comment. Enjoy your day.

Fun analogy. ActiveRain really does feel like a long-running film with new characters, plot twists, and genres showing up every day. Some posts are comedy, some are drama, and others feel like documentaries on real estate life.

What keeps it interesting is the community participation. The comments, collaborations, and evolving perspectives are what move the story forward. Like any good movie, the platform evolves over time, but the shared storytelling and connection among members remain the real attraction. Enjoy the show and pass the popcorn.

This post reminds me of the annual challenge that was hosted by Mucci, and may I make a suggestion to Debe Maxwell, CRS and Patricia Feager that we bring it back and have you host it?

Brian England - like many things in real life and in this community, there are prequels, sequels and many sorts of phenomena that can occur.  As for participation, I have no desire to host

You'll have to remind me about the challenge, Brian England. Perhaps the Dynamic Duo (Lew & Patricia) can host that one annually?!

A thoughtful essay, and it will be interesting to see the results of the Oscars, we saw the British version a couple of weeks ago and realized it has been a while with all the streaming services since we have been to a movie in a cinema.

Michael, I used to enjoy watching the Oscars, back when it was more about the movies than the political speeches!

I feel more like AR is like a TV show entering it's 18th season. Stars come and go, but the handsome lead is always there.

Good afternoon Michael,

I has to chuckle when reading your post! Only you could draw an analogy between the Oscars and movies and life in the Rain! My first thought went to the Oscars when Roger Mucci was the MC of the ceremonies! It was so much fun but like many repeat performances might be better left in it's original state and appreciated!

Hi Michael- I'm glad you took your pondering pill today. I had no idea the Oscars were upon us. While I used to watch them, I now put my attention elsewhere where I will be entertained.

Michael, so nice to see your post!   Didn't hear the Academy Awards were this weekend, thank you!   I do like to hear how the movie do, even if I don't really know what movies are in the theater right now.

Hello Michael, thoughtful post and analogy to AR! We watched the Oscar's as did millions of others. Not familiar with many of the nominated films as we rarely got to the theater since streaming services became so popular, winning films are usually released within the year after awards and we see the ones that interest us then:)

Have a great Spring!

Sincerely,

Grace

Excellent post Michael Jacobs . Your mentioning the influence of the awards seems to be of concern today as I just saw a news article stating that the number of movie stars smoking on the big screen is actually causing a resurgence of smoking again in real life.

Quasi-accolade

It's phrases like that which keeps us coming back for more. LOL

I have always really enjoyed the Oscars. It always brings back memories of our AR Movie Awards back in the day.

Oh my gosh, I love your analogy, Michael! Love the 'drive-by comment' groan notation also; that is definitely an annoyance! Hope your movies/actors/directors, etc. won last weekend.

Michael Jacobs You know I am a movie lover, and I also look forward to the award shows, but when it comes to AR stars, I am not one of the chosen ones. Have a fantastic day, Michael
