Enjoying Spring Weather in Denver

By
Industry Observer DRE# ER40011786

This is March, and in Denver we expect Roller Coaster weather.   Some days it is really nice, blue skies, and other days we could get several inches of snow!   So, it is nice to hear when we experience serious warm weather.

Next week the forecasters have predicted high 85 FOR MARCH and could set a new record.  Holy molies.    This is too early, and being so dry, our minds all go to the dry aspect and fire danger that this could lead to.

Much of the West is expecting very warm temperatures along with winds, and all of this area experiences fire danger when it dries up this much.  Yesterday in the foothills they recorded a 92 mph gust!

So, be careful what you wish for.   Today should be 70, Saturday 73 and possible snow flurries on Sunday with 31 degrees.

When moving to Portugal, these weather swings won't be happening!

Joan, that is the quintessential Denver experience! There is no "spring" in Colorado; there is only "Third Winter" followed by "False Summer."

A jump from 73°F on Saturday down to 31°F and snow on Sunday is a classic Front Range cold front. While the record-breaking 85°F forecast is great for patio dining, you are spot on about the fire danger. When that cured winter grass meets high winds and record heat, it’s a recipe for red flag warnings.

It sounds like your move to Portugal will definitely offer a more consistent Mediterranean climate—I imagine "snow flurries" won't be on the menu over there! Enjoy the warmth while it lasts, but keep the shovel and the heavy coat near the front door just in case.

I absolutely LOVE the picture you used for the blog banner.  It makes me smile.

The weather is nuts.  Here, outside of Las Vegas, we are predicted to hit 100 next week!  I am not ready for this heat!

We got 'teased' with nice weather earlier this week which melted 95% of the snow, leading to a lot of wet basements! Lucky for me, I have a sump pump, and when I tell you it's been going off for 48 hours straight, I mean it!  It's working overtime!!!!!   Today it's back in the 40s, but it was nice to have spring temps for a couple of days.  That is for sure!

Joan Cox, Retired Broker/Owner Enjoy the weather - our weather is more in the 50s. We had a few teasers in the 70' but it did not last

Wait...what? 92 MPH gusts. That is scary! I LOVED Spring in Denver...especially once the flowers start coming out.

Joan Cox, Retired Broker/Owner - your feature photo is gorgeous! I like it a lot! Since Spring doesn't officially begin until March 20, we can expect lots of weather changes. It's a cool 63 degrees in Flower Mound right now. We were having 70-80 degree temperatures with lots of rain, tornado warnings, warm sunny days, gentle breezes, and very windy days, with notices about potential fires due to drought.

Now I know why people love to talk about the weather. It's always changing. Enjoy your lovely weather, Joan!

Joan Cox, Retired Broker/Owner I can live without the bouncing especially when it bounces low.

Dennis Neal we have really had spring since December.  I have worn sandals more than shoes.   Nice, but the flip side is the dry side and fire danger.

Candy Stevens, EA you are better than me, I couldn't handle 100.  I am hoping 85 is the most it gets in Portugal.  Try to stay cool.

Kelly McGovern sounds like your temps are bouncing around too.  Glad you have a sump pump, and most of your snow is melted.   Our 8" did not last long.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty it seems like the wind has become more and more powerful around here.  Don't remember the winds being that strong in years past.  Spring has changed around here too.  We sort of have had spring since December.  Think I have worn sandals more than shoes since December.

Patricia Feager sounds like your "spring" is all over the board too, but have to hope those tornado warnings stay AWAY.

Joan- we thought we were done with coat weather but earlier this week we began our days with temps in the low 50s. I know that's warm for CO but we were bundled up.

Hello Joan - continue to enjoy each frenetic moment of the Denver weather. What's the temp in Portugal right now, how's that Fahrenheit to Celsius conversion training coming along.

What a wild stretch of weather, Joan Cox, Retired Broker/Owner. And you captured it with a grin built right in. I loved the way you balanced the warm days with the real concerns that come with them, and it all made the shift to Portugal sound even sweeter. Thanks for sharing this snapshot of spring’s mood swings in Denver :)
