Best Places To Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day In The USA (2026 Guide)

Top U.S. Cities That Go All-Out for St. Patrick’s Day

WalletHub just came out with it's list of the top cities in which to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in 2026. Not surprisingly, Boston came in at #1. More surprisingly (to me) was that Reno, Nevada came in #2. Nevada actually had two cities in the top five, with Henderson coming in at #5. I was also surprised to see New York City come in only at #7, especially since New York City has the most Irish pubs and restaurants per capita in the USA.  And Chicago did not make the top 10 list at all, even though it came in close at #11.

7 Fun Facts About St. Patrick's Day Celebrations In 2026

  1. $7-7.7 Billion (yes, billion) is projected to be spent on this year's St. Patrick's Day holiday?

  2. That 50+% of Americans will celebrate St. Patrick's Day in some way?

  3. Cabbage shipments increase by a whopping 50% for St. Patrick's Day?

  4. Alcohol sales go up approximately 150% on Saint Patrick’s Day?

  5. Guinness beer purchases skyrocket 819%?

  6. A death related to drinking and driving occurs every 30 minutes on Saint Patrick’s Day, involving both drunk drivers and intoxicated pedestrians?

  7. The most popular way to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day will be to wear green with 78-83%  of people saying that they will wear green?

Nina, seeing Reno at #2 is a total shocker! Boston taking the crown makes sense, but the data on Guinness sales—up 819%—is mind-blowing. Charlotte might rank lower, but those 37+ local events prove the Queen City still knows how to celebrate. Have a safe and lucky holiday!

Dennis Neal hi Dennis... I'm sure there are actually more than those 37 local events listed in this one source to celebrate St Patrick's Day in Charlotte. I suppose I should be to surprised that Charlotte was not the highest in rankings... our founders were primary Scottish and German. Enjoy your St Patrick's Day.

Nina, Boston is only a couple of hours away, I should consider make a trip there for St Paddy's Day.

George Souto I lived on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 86th Street for some 13 years... all the big parades that went down Fifth Avenue turned down 86 Street so I always had a "front row seat."

Hi Nina- Larry and I loved the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Delray Beach!!! We're ready to celebrate with some corned beef and cabbage!!

Kathy Streib hi Kathy... I loved corned beef and cabbage... my husband won't eat cabbage and I don't know about Houston, but it's crazy expensive here in the Charlotte area. So I almost never make it.

Well glory be, Nina Hollander, Broker. Boston ranks as the best place to celebrate St. Paddy's Day, and it feels like the kind of news that puts a grin on your face. Thanks for sharing all these fun bits, they made the whole thing feel lively and a bit cheeky in the best way. Always good to start the day with a smile and a few surprises ☘️

Lew Corcoran hi Lew... many people believe St Patrick's Day parade began in Boston, but actually the first one was in St Augustine, Florida in 1601. Boston followed in 1737 and New York City in 1762.

OMG you mean our St Patricks Day parties didn't make the list.   We had an awesome one a couple of years ago and everyone dressed Irish to the max. I'll look for a few photos and post them!!

Good afternoon Nina Hollander, Broker I did see it on my calendar, now I am going to have to wear some kind of green so I don't get pinched by the grandkids, LOL

Katina Hargrove 352-551-0308 hi Katina... green is not my color... so I "cheat" a bit and wear a ring with tiny green diamonds.

I would venture that from a historical standpoint, either New York or Boston would have the larger Irish population. My former Irish B-I--L's  felt that the dy was for amateurs and they preferred to stay away from their local haunts as it was too crowded nd the prices were raised for the day.

Ed Silva, 203-206-0754 hi Ed... Actually, the state of California has the highest number of people with Irish ancestry. New Hampshire has the highest percentage of people with Irish ancestry. New York State has more people than Massachusetts of Irish ancestry, but Boston as a city has more people of Irish ancestry.

Nina Hollander, Broker  at the start of immigration to this country, not many Irish stopped in on the west coast first

Ed Silva, 203-206-0754 that is certainly true, Ed. I guess an awful lot of people moved West to the golden land (not so golden any more).

Hi Nina. Maybe the cities with the most Irish population or at least Irish Pubs? Yet, for some reason EVERYONE wants to wear green on St Patick's day. One of my favorite old movies from 1959 was Sean Connery's first movie, "Darby O'Gill and the Little People"

Hi Nina,
#6 is a sobering statistic (pun intended)
A friend and I were in Vegas one year on St. Patrick's Day. It was nearly impossible to get into any of the bars. We ended up at some offbeat restaurant,

Carol Williams hi Carol... I was gob-smacked by the particular statistic. When I lived in NYC it wasn't easy to get into a pub or bar either.
