Motivational Monday…Act It!
Today is Act Happy Day—a reminder that when we choose to smile, laugh, and surround ourselves with uplifting people and environments, those small actions can gradually lead us to feel happy.
Have you ever felt down or sad, and then something someone says or does suddenly brings a smile to your face?

The mind and body communicate with each other. How many times did you stand up straight and put your shoulders back when you needed to gather your confidence before a special meeting? That small act of your body saying, “I’m confident,” changed your outlook!
Acting happy, putting a smile on your face when you aren’t feeling happy, can change your mood. You feel better from the release of endorphins…you smile, so those around you smile, then voila…happiness!
You know what I’m talking about! You’re out walking…you have a bounce in your step. The person walking towards you has a scowl on their face, but as soon as you smile at them…even wish them Good morning…their smile returns.
There’s a fine line, though, between faking it until you make it. If you’re not happy more often than not or if trying to act happy is temporary at best, it might be time to speak with someone.
While roaming around cyberville, I learned about the Happiness Rule, which says that “Happiness is determined by 3 factors: 50% genetics, 10% life circumstances, 40% intentiional activities” (by Sonja Lyubomirsky in The How of Happiness.)

What this is telling us is that, genetics and our life experiences aside, we can control how happy we are through choosing the activities that make us happy…being around those who are happy...by our own intent!
So this week…let’s begin by acting or being happy!!!!
Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.
Abraham Lincoln
The time to be happy is now, the place to be happy is here, the way to be happy is to make others so.
Robert G. Ingersoll
Action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action.
