Wordless Wednesday…Mother’s Nature’s Amazing Handiwork
Since I’ve been sharing recipes on Saturday, I thought this would be a good day to give you updates on our bluebirds.
Box 1…This is normally our most prolific box. It’s usually the first box with a nest. We feared that the construction of a walking path nearby might cause the bluebirds to seek another location. YOU know how important location is!!!

No need to worry… Mama Bluebird laid 5 eggs, which should start hatching towards the end of the week.
Box 4…We had 4 eggs in it after several years of no bluebirds. Three have hatched, and mom has been incubating them.

Our box…There are 3 chicks that mom has been feeding. We had a scare this week when a sparrow attempted to snatch one of the chicks.

Larry happened to look at the view of the nest on his iPad and saw the sparrow going into the nest. We raced out as Mom and Dad Bluebird were fighting off the sparrow.
Not a bird, but we saw this on the walking path this week. It’s a Giant Leopard Moth!
And…it’s NOT AI!!!

Though their adult lifespan is brief—just 6 to 10 days—it is devoted entirely to mating. Their full life cycle spans about a year, with most of that time spent in the caterpillar stage.
I hope you have time to get out
And enjoy nature.
