More than 26 years in Rim Country real estate.
Founder and designated broker of Arizona Resource Realty, Tamra Lee Ulmer, says her long-standing community presence reflects decades of work helping Arizona residents navigate traditional home sales, flat-fee MLS listings, foreclosures, short sales, and real estate auctions.
Ulmer began her journey in real estate in the late 1990s after working at Diamond Point Shadows as a waitress, then in construction with her father.
“I was a construction laborer at the Payson Pines Subdivision when my dad put in the first phase,” said Ulmer. “I was living out there onsite working as a laborer when I decided to go ahead and get into real estate.”
She took the plunge to pursue her real estate license in 1998 and achieved her goal in 1999. At 22 years old, Ulmer said, “I was the youngest Realtor in town at that time.”
She has since closed more than 2,000 property transactions across Arizona.
Locally, her service area includes Payson, Star Valley, Pine, Strawberry, and surrounding Rim Country communities.
“Rim Country real estate has its own complexities,” Ulmer said. “Rural properties, mountain homes, acreage, manufactured housing, and zoning considerations require local knowledge and careful planning – especially when homeowners are facing financial stress.”
Working in real estate during multiple market cycles, spanning both strong and challenging economic periods, has earned her ample experience with distressed properties, including foreclosures and short sales.
“Short sales are about helping people find solutions before foreclosure occurs,” Ulmer explained. “Many homeowners don’t realize they have options. Our goal is to provide clear information and help them make informed decisions during a difficult time.”
To cater to sellers’ varying needs, Ulmer said Arizona Resource Realty has expanded its brokerage to include flat-fee MLS listings, which allows her clients to gain more exposure while maintaining greater control over costs. Through Arizona Property Auctions, she also offers services in the real estate auction space.
“Auctions can be an effective option not only for distressed properties, but also for sellers who want a defined timeline and broad market exposure,” said Ulmer.
Ulmer said that Arizona Resource Realty blends modern digital marketing tools with hands-on local service. She added that while technology enhances exposure and efficiency, experience and personal guidance remain critical, especially for complex transactions.
She said, “Real estate isn’t just about selling property. It’s about helping people through major life transitions, sometimes during very difficult moments.”
Ulmer has been recognized as Best of the Rim – Real Estate Broker for four consecutive years, and is a finalist in this year’s contest, with winners announced at the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino on Friday, Feb. 20.
