College Basketball is Getting a Lot of Attention
It is the time of year for basketball lovers as well as those that appreciate heavy competition to enjoy the event known as March Madness. It is the race for the collegiate national championships, for both men and women.
Here in Connecticut, we are watching both the men's and women's tournaments with great intensity. The success of each team over the years has garnered the nickname of Basketball Capital of the collegiate universe as collectively the teams have won more national titles than any other schools.
There are more than 350 schools with possibility of entry into the Division 1 championship. At the conclusion of the league championships, 64 teams on each side begin the elimination. This upcoming weekend, the field is down to what is called the Sweet 16 with elimination down to the Elite 8.

The final weekend, which is also Easter weekend, 4 will compete for the National Championship.
The Women's Championship game is on April 5 and will be played in Phoenix.
The men's Championship is in Indianapolis, IN and will be played on April 6.
The added interest for Connecticut fans, is the potential for both teams to again win the championship in the same year, this has only been done 2 other times, 2004 and 2014, and UConn is the only school to have ever done it.
I will be watching with more than great interest, and hopefully a strong enough heart to see both of them cut down the final nets.
