Remembering A Colleague from Two Different Industries

By
Real Estate Agent with Dirt Road Real Estate SA676002000

Often our professional lives change and sometimes we are fortunate to connect with a colleague from a previous industry. Imagine my surprise when I discovered Grant Schneider was a member of Active Rain.  Grant and I both were colleagues from an organization previously known as Resource Affiliates Corporation (RAC) and now is renamed as The Trusted Advisors(TAN). This firm provided training and development curriculum along with quarterly sessions that allowed members to share best practices.

When I was an active member of RAC/TAN I had facilitated several breakout sessions. Grant always added to the discussion in thoughtful and respectful ways.  He actively participated in the group/table activities as well.

Here in Active Rain, Grant continued to share his experience as a business coach to help small to large business owners and yes real estate agents are small business owners.  What is noticeable about Grant is Grant did personalize his responses and often those responses added more insight to the dialogue created by the blog posting.

Finding a gentle, caring and kind soul is sometimes difficult in this hustle bustle world. Grant was one of those rare, gentle, caring and kind souls who the angels pray and guard. His presence continues to be missed by Active Rain members as well as others who had the opportunity to know him and learn from him.

Grant passed away in early 2023. Here is a link to his obituary for those who may not have known or interacted with Grant

This is my second entry into the March 2026 Challenge of remembering a colleague here on Active Rain. Again thanks to Lew Corcoran and Patricia Feager for hosting these two challenges this month.

P.S. Please consider checking out my Facebook business page, The Grit and Gratitude Agent that will focus on the Dirt Roads in Mohave County as well local real estate, lots of dirt or vacant land parcels as some of the local attractions.

Oh yes, Leanne... Grant Schneider was one of my favorite peeps here in the Rain. And I was fortunate enough to have met him personally (and his wife, Phyllis) a number of times, including here in Charlotte. He was without doubt one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet.

Leanne Smith - It's rare to cross paths with the same person you met in business twice. I can only image how surprising it was for the two of you to reconnect. I remember what you described - Grant was a gentle soul. You were more than just colleagues; you shared industry standards providing others with education. His passing was a shock to everyone. Your memories of him are sincerely appreciated.

Thank you for your participation and the meaningful words you chose to write so eloquently.

Leanne Smith beautifully written. It’s never easy to lose someone who contributed so much, but sharing stories like this keeps their spirit and influence alive.

I only had the opportunity to interact with Grant a few times on ActiveRain- but we had some overlap in our background, and naturally that stood out in my mind. On Sept. 10, 2001- I signed the lease to move to Harrison, NY - adjacent to White Plains where Grant worked. It's hard to forget signing a lease the day before a national disaster. I also worked in Learning and Professional Development (training)- where I naturally worked with business coaches and leadership development as well as HR- another reason why I remember Grant so well. My background is much more on the financial/technical side- so while i managed these types of programs- it was a small portion of my role. Still- these connections is why Grant stood out for me.

My sense is Grant stood out to many for different reasons. Thank you for sharing your personal experience.  Take care
