Friday Flags: A Veteran's Post Will Aways Have a Flag
Heere in Prospect, CT, we have a VFW post, #8075, and it is an active group as there are always cars in the lot, and in season their outdoor pavilion always has activities.
The post like many across the country is a safe place for all veterans that have served overseas to protect those that cannot protect themselves.
With the way we find ourselves as the protectors of the world, that makes for membership with different types of memories than when initially founded in Sept, 1899 after the Spanish-American war.
Purpose to fer comfort to rehabilitating veterans as well as support for widows and orphans.
Of course, their flag waves proudly adjacent to the building and is very visible from the main roadway.
They also have an Apache attack helicopter mounted outside the post, which also draws a lot of attention.
The men and women that belong to these organizations share a kinship and while friendly to all, there is a look that all recognize.
