I always enjoy participating in the monthly #ActiveRainChallenge. I am grateful that Carol Williams and Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400 are hosting this month's challenge. I look forward to reading the posts from others and the reasons that they love where they live, or where they would like to move to. If anyone is considering a move, I would highly suggest that they take a look at life in the East Valley!!!

I wasn't born and raised here, but I have truly grown to love living in the East Valley. I was born in England, but I don't remember much about it since I was a baby when we came back to the States. I don't remember much about where I lived before I was five years old, which is when we moved to Globe, AZ.
Globe is a small town about 70 miles from the Phoenix Metro area, and it is at a higher elevation, so it is a bit cooler year-round. I enjoyed a very nice childhood being raised there, but going to college really opened my eyes to a bigger city.
I didn't leave the state of Arizona for college and attended the University of Arizona. It is in Tucson, AZ, and I loved my time there. Tucson is a big city, but it has a small-town feel and definitely a college-town atmosphere. After college, I worked for a couple of years, then I went away to get my Master's degree.
After getting my Master's degree, I decided to move to the Phoenix area because there are so many more opportunities for jobs. I settled on Mesa and have been here ever since!
Mesa is a very big city within the Phoenix Metro area. The things I love most about living where I live are that I am not too far from where my parents live, close to so many different things that I enjoy, and the beautiful year-round weather, of course, haha.
Being close to my parents is important since we are a very close family, and we still get to spend time together often. I don't get to spend as much time with my nephews as I would like to, but that is more because of a divorce and how nasty their Mom has been through it, haha.
Convenience is big in my book, so being within walking distance to plenty of shopping, dining, and amenities gives me the kind of convenience I enjoy. I am also pretty close to freeway access, which is nice when I want to head out of town.
I really enjoy that if I want cooler weather, I can be in a completely different climate within a couple of hours.
I love being able to visit the ocean, and I am only a 5-6 hour drive to the San Diego area, so I try to visit that area as much as I can.
With regard to the weather, I have grown to love the heat, and I much prefer it being too hot to it being too cold. I don't mind the summers here at all, but when it gets too hot here, as I mentioned before, I am only a short drive to 70-degree weather, haha. Being able to wear shorts and a t-shirt year-round suits me to a T, haha.
Oh, and finally, everyone knows how much I love supporting my Arizona Wildcats!!! Final Four, baby!!! I hope that we will win it all again this year!!! #GoCats #BearDown and for Ray Henson #NoPickleballForBrian, haha.
I specialize in the East Valley of the Phoenix Metro area - Gilbert, Mesa, Chandler, Tempe, Scottsdale, Apache Junction, and Gold Canyon
