Wait a minute what is wrong with this picture? For those who don’t know Gen Z’s were born from 1997 to 2012, so between 29 and 14 years old. But The Villages is a 55 and over retire community (80/20). When I saw that headline I knew I needed to dig a little deeper. News 6 out of Orlando did the story. Here is some info I have gathered:
Using PGM’s proprietary database of almost 15 million nationwide adult moves between January 1 and December 31, 2025, MovingPlace determined the hottest ZIP codes, cities, and states for Gen Z moves. Gen Z is flocking to urban and job-focused ZIP codes like 55401 Minneapolis, MN; 34762 The Villages, FL. Gen Z is moving to The Villages primarily for job opportunities, affordable housing, and a lower cost of living compared to other Florida areas. As the massive retirement community grows, it creates high demand for service, construction, healthcare, and hospitality workers, driving many younger people to service the growing retiree population. New developments like Middleton have been designed to house the working-age population, providing housing opportunities close to employment centers.
Have you noticed all the family housing and apartments being built just outside of The Villages?
