E-Bike Safety: Fire Risks

One of the most common causes of e-bike battery fires is overheating. This can also occur if the battery is left to charge near a heat source or in direct sunlight. Never leave unattended while charging. Never block or charge your e-bike near an exit.

Good morning Roy. When we lived in the concrete jungle of downtown Chicago E-bikes were not a problem. Now in a hither suburb they are becoming a problem as children as young as 5 are on the streets on these devices unsupervised. Not supposed to be on the streets either way. And when garage doors are open they are everywhere. Sage advice. Thanks! Enjoy your day.

Good morning, Roy... these E-bikes are increasingly becoming a problem. We are seeing the same issues as those Wayne Martin identified. Kids come barreling out of no where on these bikes including on roads with lots of car traffic. The fire hazard is just one more issue to be aware of.

I bought an e-bike for someone in need, and they turned out to be a terrible person, so if I heard about that e-bike catching on fire, I might think that it served him right, haha.

I'm really glad you posted this Roy Kelley . I had hoped to be riding an ebike this summer, I bought one from Walmart + but it got lost in shipping. It went to Alaska never to be seen again. Anyhow I may try again so it's good to know this info and all the comments as well.
