This Week…Several Layers of Yum

This is a dip we all made years ago, especially for pool parties. It’s one of those dips you can prep the day before, then assemble before your gathering.

And, thanks to today’s lifestyle, our grocery stores make this dip even easier by offering many of the items pre-cut and pre-prepped.

You can use any bowl or large casserole dish to make this; however, if you have a glass trifle or a glass straight-sided bowl, it makes a nicer presentation.

Tostado Dip

Layer starting with the bottom:

1 can of refried beans

1 chopped tomato

1 sm. can chopped black olives (drain well)

Quacamole  or  2-4 avocados, mashed, seasoned

1 sm. can chopped green chilies (drained well)

Grated cheddar cheese

Picante sauce

Sour cream (stir to make it easier to spread)

Now, all you need are chips and a margarita!

Enjoy

Good morning, Kathy... oh boy, oh boy... does that ever look good! (Of course, I'd have to pick out those olives that I'm allergic to.)

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 I love it when it's served in the glass bowl so people can see the layers...until people start digging in it!

I am always afraid to be the first one to dip into something like this because it's presented so nicely, haha.

This sounds like a classic favorite. Simple, layered, and always a crowd-pleaser. Chips and an adult beverage is all that you need.

Good afternoon Kathy,

I've always like this dip and love seeing it in a clear bowl rather than a casserole dish for a change. I will be making this with this presentation to some things coming up in May!

Dorie Dillard Austin TX I love seeing it in a clear bowl. My trifle bowl was broken in our move but I have another glass bowl that works. I'll bet your friends at the office would love it.

Hi Kathy:

That looks and sounds delicious, and is beautiful in that glass bowl. I think a Margarita is the perfect beverage to accompany this.
