Journal Entry for 4/16/2026
In Flower Mound, there are plenty of reasons to feel grateful today, Thursday, April 16, 2026. Whether you're looking for a boost of creativity, some fresh air, or just a beautiful spring day, here is what’s happening in Flower Mound today.
Beautiful Spring Weather
The weather is arguably the biggest highlight today. If you live in Flower Mound, be thankful for:
- A "Mostly Sunny" Day: It is currently 68°F and headed toward a gorgeous high of 85°F.
- Perfect Outdoor Conditions: With a low chance of rain (only 15%) and a gentle breeze, it’s a prime day to visit the town’s namesake—The Flower Mound—which is likely in bloom with some of the 175+ species of wildflowers identified there.

Community Education & Growth
Today I will take a Denton Historical Park Tour – the objective is to lean on local history and take part in the Denton Historical Park tour provided by the Denton County Office of History and Culture. I look forward to acquiring a wealth of historical information.

On Tuesday, April 14, I enjoyed a presentation by Lauren Lovelace Murray learning about the 129th year of unbroken history about the Fort Worth Stock Show. She started work at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo in 2005, and is now the first female Executive Vice President of the institution.

There are some great opportunities to connect with neighbors or pick up a new skill:
- Poetry Workshop: Celebrate National Poetry Month at the Flower Mound Public Library from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It’s a great chance to "elevate your poetry from draft to polished piece."
- Local Food News: Recent updates mention Yogurtland and Wildflower (a new breakfast/brunch spot) are coming to town soon.
- Civic Engagement: There is a Town Council Work Session tonight at 6:00 p.m.
A Look Ahead
If today is a bit busy, you can still have a fun weekend to look forward to:
- Saturday, April 18: The town is hosting the Spring Trash-Off (to keep the community beautiful) and the Kid Fishing Derby at Rheudasil Park, where they are stocking the pond with 500 pounds of catfish!
