On August 1st, 2026, the State of Colorado will be celebrating 150 years in statehood as the "Centennial State".    On August 1, 1876, Colorado became the 38th state.   The state has LOTS going on this year to celebrate.

Some fun Facts about Colorado -

  • Our airport, DIA, has the largest land mass with 54 square miles, which is twice the size of Manhattan.
  • Colorado has the world's largest flattop.  Grand Mesa (East of Grand Junction) has over 500 square miles.
  • Colorado has the largest liquor store - DaveCO Liquors, which has over 200,000 square feet.
  • Colorado has the largest mineral hot springs, located in Glenwood Springs.   405 feet by 200 feet, over 1 million gallons of water.
  • Colorado has the largest comic book store in the world!  Mile High Comics - 65,000 square feet.

What a milestone. 150 years is something to celebrate, and Colorado has plenty of character to match it.

Those facts really highlight how diverse the state is—from the scale of DIA to the natural features like Grand Mesa and the hot springs. It’s a reminder that Colorado offers a mix of lifestyle, recreation, and history that continues to draw people in.

Anniversary years like this also tend to bring attention back to an area, which is always interesting to watch from a real estate perspective. More visibility often leads to renewed interest from buyers who may not have considered it before.

Sounds like a full calendar of events ahead. It should be a great year for both residents and visitors to experience what makes Colorado stand out.
