Pineville Paws in the Park: Where Community (and Dogs) Come Together
A Tail-Wagging Good Time Awaits 🐶 🐾 🦴 🐕 🐕🦺
Pineville's Paws in the Park, a beloved annual gathering and one of Charlotte area's largest dog events, brings together pet lovers, local businesses, and community organizations for a day dedicated to our four-legged friends. Whether you’re a dog owner, an animal enthusiast, or just someone who enjoys a lively outdoor event, there’s something here for everyone.
There’s just something about putting a few hundred dogs in one place that immediately lowers the pressure. Nobody’s pretending. Nobody’s networking too hard. It’s just people, outside, enjoying the day—with their dogs doing most of the social heavy lifting.
Nina Hollander, Charlotte’s pet-friendly Realtor®, likes to remind clients that events like Pineville Paws in the Park highlight how much your surroundings matter—not just for you, but for your dog. Access to parks, walkable areas, and pet-friendly communities isn’t just a bonus; it’s part of everyday quality of life for both of you.
When & Where
Saturday, April 25, 2026
10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Pineville Lake Park: 1000 Johnston Road
Presented by Charlotte Black Dogs and Pineville Parks & Recreation
What to Expect
From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel the energy. The park will be filled with wagging tails, happy barks, and plenty of smiling faces. There'll be lots of activities designed to entertain both pets and their humans:
-
Pet Parade & Costume Contest – Get ready for some creativity. From superheroes to silly costumes, this crowd favorite never disappoints.

-
Local Vendors & Pet Services – Discover everything from handmade pet accessories to grooming and training services offered by local businesses.
-
Adoption Opportunities – Local rescue groups will be on-site with adoptable pets looking for their forever homes.

-
Live Demonstrations – Watch skilled trainers and agility experts showcase what dogs can really do.
- Food & Refreshments – Enjoy food trucks and local treats while you mingle and explore.
It’s Not About the Schedule
Sure, there are things going on—vendors, a pet parade, maybe a costume contest if your dog has the patience for it. But the real draw isn’t any one activity.
It’s the in-between moments:
- Dogs meeting (and occasionally ignoring) each other
- Owners swapping stories about “the weird thing my dog does”
- Kids laughing at dogs way bigger—or smaller—than they expected
- That one dog who thinks every human is there specifically to pet them (sound like my Bingo!)
You don’t need an agenda here. You just show up and let it unfold.
It Feels Like Pineville
If you live in or around Pineville, you already know—it’s small enough to feel connected, but big enough that you don’t run into the same five people everywhere.
You’ll recognize a few faces, meet a few new ones, and probably leave with at least one conversation that started because your dog decided to sit next to a stranger. That’s how most connections get made here anyway.
For Dog Owners—It’s Worth It
If you’ve got a dog, this is basically their version of a festival.
New smells. New dogs. New people willing to hand out attention like it’s free (because it is).
Just be realistic:
- If your dog hates crowds, this might not be their scene
- If your dog love sattention, you may not move very far
- If your dog pulls on the leash, you’re getting a workout
Bring water, keep expectations reasonable, and you’ll both have a better time.
For Everyone Else—It's Also Worth It
No dog? Doesn’t matter.
Half the fun is just being around the chaos in a good way. It’s one of the few events where you can show up solo and not feel out of place for a second.
You’ll end up petting someone else’s dog within five minutes anyway.
So… Is It Worth Going?
If you’re expecting a perfectly organized, tightly scheduled event—you’ll miss the point.
If you’re looking for something easy, local, and genuinely enjoyable on a Saturday, Paws in the Park delivers.
Show up. Walk around. Stay as long as it feels right.
That’s kind of the whole idea. 🐶 🐾 🦴 🐕 🐕🦺
