I have supported lots of candidates in my lifetime in Putnam County. As someone born here and likely will be laid to rest here after I die I love my home. I have worked as a real estate broker for 29 years and was an agent for 3 years prior to that and worked in the business for 2 years before that as a secretary in the real estate office I have now owned for 31 years. My taxes are too high, the local deputies, first responders and firefighters aren't paid enough. I've watched as money has been foolishly spent.
When the county bought the building where commissioners meetings are held now I was outraged on the amount spent to "remodel". When the school board sold a building that was likely worth close to a million dollars to the city for the new city hall for $150,000. I was outraged. Time get tough and families buckle down and spend less and the county raises our taxes and spends more. It's been brought to my attention that some secretaries in the court house make nearly as much as deputies. Does it make any sense?
Transparency, putting in time and effort, caring about the community she has made her home for more than 20 years I know of is why I feel confident in supporting Jennifer Ray. I don't always agree with how she goes about getting her point across, because she can be blunt. I'm a supporter of you get more with kindness than abruptness. However, while I have nothing negative to say about Paul Garner, who has occasionally been in a commissioners meeting to say the invocation, he has not been the person who has spent the past two years collecting public records via the freedom of information act. He has not been the one fighting the PDA who thinks it's a good idea to build 250 rental homes and not make the owner pay ANY taxes for 15 years, he has not been the one repeatedly digging for more information to let Putnam County tax payers know how our taxes are being spent.... Jennifer Ray, who has done ALL of that with her own money is that person. It's time for us to have a representative that is available. One that doesn't have another job (Paul has two other jobs), but that will available to hear and respond to the concerns of her constituents.
I fully endorse and Jennifer Ray as a lifelong resident of Putnam County. I believe you didn't have to be born here to love Putnam County and want what is best for its citizens. I did not come to this conclusion without research, thoughtful consideration. I believe she is the best person for the job. I know she loves Putnam County and loves Lake Sinclair. I've watched her being accused of many thing she has not done by those who she questions on how are taxes are being spent.
