King's Drive Art Walk 🎨& Festival In The Park: May 2-3, 2026
A Charlotte Tradition... Decades Strong (And Still Worth The Walk)
You know that perfect spring moment where the weather is just right, the trees are showing off, and you feel mildly offended if you’re not outside? That’s exactly when the Kings Drive Art Walk shows up and says, “hey, come wander a little.”
Set along the Little Sugar Creek Greenway, this isn’t your typical crowded festival where you shuffle booth-to-booth. This is more like a slow, meandering, accidentally spend three hours here kind of experience. You stroll. You pause. You double back because something caught your eye. You chat with an artist who’s clearly poured their soul into their work. You consider buying art like you’re suddenly the kind of person who says things like “this piece speaks to me.” (And honestly? It might.)
What "makes" the King's Drive Art Walk is its focus on fine and emerging artists — meaning you’re not just seeing polished, gallery-ready work, but also discovering people who are on their way there. It’s creative, it’s a little unexpected, and it feels personal in a way big events sometimes don’t. And after 16 years, clearly Charlotteans approve!
And there’s something quietly cool about the fact that this whole thing is an extension of Festival in the Park — a Charlotte tradition that’s been bringing people together since 1964 and has long been a beloved part of the city’s cultural fabric with generation after generation showing up for art, music, and that unmistakable community vibe.
Here’s the plan (because yes, you should go):
📍 600 S Kings Drive
🗓 Saturday, May 2 (11 am–6 pm)
🗓 Sunday, May 3 (11 am–5 pm)
🌦 Rain or shine
So, go with friends, go on a casual date, go solo with a coffee and pretend you’re in a coming-of-age film — it works for all of it. Sorry, but no pets allowed.
Worst case? You get fresh air and a nice walk.
Best case? You leave with a piece of art, a new favorite artist, and that rare feeling that you did something a little more interesting than your usual weekend routine.
