Green Thumb, Certainly an Asset to Selling Your Home.

I thought today's cartoon was a bit of a groaner but it did remind me of a cartoon Timmothy wrote a few years back that I thought was pretty genius for a cartoon.

Sticking with the "Green Thumb" theme and relating it to Real Estate I'm going to apply it to listings for sale and Home Staging. I will call on Kathy Streib to help me out on this as I may not know what I am talking about, BUT i have to assume that if your houseplants don't look like they just came out of the greenhouse you need to toss them or make sure they are out of sight. Oddly enough I have not heard this topic approached before (house plants and showings/staging).

Imagine considering purchasing a home and you see a plant with spider mites or other insects on it, YUCK! Personally I'd want to bolt out the door before I feel my skin crawling.

On the other hand how cool and relaxing would it be to see a big healthy plant in a sun filled room. 😃

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. You can follow Timmothy on FB as Titus & Philemon and you can also check him out on Instagram as Instagram.com/titus and philemon/ .For Timmothy's website type timmtimmothy.com into your browser. I tried to put it in a link here but it refuses to work. Do NOT put anything in front of timmtimmothy.com or it will not work.

Bob, this gave me a smile. The cartoon may have been a groaner, but the message is actually right on target.

As someone who walks through homes with buyers every week, I can say healthy plants can absolutely add warmth, life, and that “this home feels cared for” feeling. On the flip side, struggling plants, dead leaves, or little unwanted critters can distract buyers from what really matters.

Home staging is all about helping buyers picture themselves living there, and sometimes the smallest details—whether it’s fresh flowers, a healthy fern, or a sun-filled corner—can leave the biggest impression.

A green thumb can definitely be an asset when preparing a home for the market.

I agree Gwen Fowler SC Lakes & Mountains 864-710-4518 . When I see green plants with the sun shinning into a room I feel right at home.

Hi Bob,
I love the ambiance that house plants create.  I have 3 black bamboo trees separating my sitting room and living room. It creates the separation I want without a wall.

Hi Bob... I freely admit I don't have a green thumb. As a result there are NO live plants in my house. Zip, zero, zilch. I do have a very nice artificial bamboo plant which looks very real and which my housekeeper keeps dusted.
